0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Leonid Dmitriev! The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Ian Loll and Elvis Blanc.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Wood throws out a loose jab but Dmitriev uses good head movement to avoid it. Dmitriev takes a swing at Wood's ribcage but misses. Wood moves away from the strike by Dmitriev. Wood is looking to slow Dmitriev down with leg kicks. Dmitriev throws a jab when Wood was well out of range. Dmitriev fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Dmitriev misses with a wild body shot. Wood throws a head kick that misses. Jeff Wood seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Wood dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Dmitriev. That did some damage! Wood pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Dmitriev passes Wood's right leg, so he's now in half guard. Wood on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Wood tries to get out of the position. Dmitriev frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Dmitriev fails to take his opponent's back. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Dmitriev won't let Wood get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now. Dmitriev is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Wood is surviving well by controlling Dmitriev's body position as best he can. Wood is looking to improve his position but Dmitriev isn't that keen on the idea.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Dmitriev is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Wood has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Wood! Dmitriev had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Wood is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Dmitriev Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Wood's back instead. Wood is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Dmitriev gets his way!

Wood escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Wood is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Dmitriev. Wood lands a head kick!
