Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Egon Rullgardin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Phill James (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). James has chosen Elite as his entrance music. Egon Rullgardin has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the bantamweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Egon Rullgardin!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Phill James!
The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Winston Howard and Eliza Hachem.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
James misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
James throws a head kick but Rullgardin moves out of range.

Rullgardin gets caught flat footed, as James shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

James got a little sloppy there for a moment and Rullgardin has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, James has managed to get both his arms back between Rullgardin's legs - danger averted.
Rullgardin striking off his back but it's not causing James any problems.

Rullgardin throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.
James is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Rullgardin thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
James trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Rullgardin throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.

James tries to stand but Rullgardin is controlling from the bottom.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
James is looking to clinch.
James throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Rullgardin's waist but Rullgardin gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing James off to one side.
Horrible takedown by James or perhaps it was just good defense by Rullgardin which made him look bad.
Egon Rullgardin has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Phill James.
Rullgardin jabs James right on the nose. James blinks but takes it well.

Rullgardin closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming James to the mat! James manages to get full guard.
James looks gassed!

James has momentary wrist control but Rullgardin slips an elbow through the middle.

Rullgardin drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but James manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Rullgardin has James in his guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
James content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.

Rullgardin has his foot on James's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. James works his way back into a safe position though.
James would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Rullgardin throwing strikes off his back to little effect.
Rullgardin is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Rullgardin is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
James avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Rullgardin.

James has hold of Rullgardin's hands but Rullgardin slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Rullgardin seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but James does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Rullgardin scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Rullgardin throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Rullgardin is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Rullgardin looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.
Rullgardin with shots to the head and body - James looks very uncomfortable down there.
Rullgardin fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!

Rullgardin moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, James has worked his arm free - good work by James!
Rullgardin works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
Rullgardin lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

James is not content to let Rullgardin control the position.
Rullgardin is chipping away with strikes.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rullgardin throws a hook but James avoids it easily.

It looks like Phill James has been cut.
James slips a jab from Rullgardin.
James throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Rullgardin throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Rullgardin takes a swing at James's ribcage but misses.
Rullgardin throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

James steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Rullgardin.
James shoots and misses
and Rullgardin cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
James is still on wobbly legs! Can Rullgardin finish him?
James is breathing heavily.
Rullgardin scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. James doesn't seem bothered though.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
James misses with a takedown
and Rullgardin counters with a big left hand that crumples James! He was out before he hit the floor! Brutal knockout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:03 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Egon Rullgardin!
