Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Anthony Rio (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and David Poulain (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). David Poulain has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Anthony Rio's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Anthony Rio!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, David Poulain!
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Alec Ball and Trevor Gratis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rio tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target.

Poulain closes the distance and pushes Rio back into the cage.
Poulain blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Poulain stalling.
Poulain tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Poulain tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Rio smiles and moves away.
Poulain fails with a takedown attempt.
Anthony Rio has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of David Poulain.
Rio throws a sloppy head kick and Poulain moves out of range easily.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Poulain is pulling down on Rio's head to control his posture.
Poulain will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Rio closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Poulain to the mat! Poulain manages to get full guard.

Rio is squirming around, avoiding Poulain's attempts to control the action.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Poulain shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Rio defends it nicely.

Poulain wants to lay and pray for a moment but Rio keeps working.
Rio tries to buck Poulain off but Poulain is having none of it.
Poulain lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Rio down.

Poulain is looking to take a break and control but Rio is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Rio postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Poulain is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Rio, into his guard.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Poulain accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Poulain is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Poulain stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Rio swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Poulain shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Rio as he avoids it easily.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Rio falls off balance throwing a combination

and Poulain decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Rio's guard.
Rio utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Rio is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Poulain is nestled in close to Rio, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Poulain connects with a nice short shot to Rio's temple.

Rio wants to sweep here but Poulain controlling him for the moment.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Poulain shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.

Rio is desperately trying to improve his position but Poulain has a good base and remains in mount.
Rio is squirming around, avoiding Poulain's attempts to control the action.
Poulain lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Rio's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.

Poulain postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Rio looks a forlorn figure.
Rio is bucking up trying to escape but Poulain cracks him with another couple of good strikes.

David Poulain comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Poulain winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
