PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Adam Budgell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Holden Coulfield (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Budgell kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Im to sexy!!!!. Coulfield comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Beastie Boys-Intergalactic kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 6 - 1, fighting out of London, Adam Budgell!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Holden Coulfield!
The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, Steven Brown and Chris Edwards.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Coulfield throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Coulfield does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.

Budgell shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Budgell missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
Coulfield moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Budgell accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Coulfield is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Coulfield pulls Budgell in close to prevent any damage.
Budgell trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Coulfield can do anything to dispel that myth.
Budgell won't allow Coulfield to sweep him here.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Budgell in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Coulfield looking to hit a scissor sweep but Budgell is one step ahead there.
Coulfield working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Budgell.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Budgell looks for the body kick but Coulfield saw that one coming.
Coulfield will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Coulfield feints and then cracks Budgell's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Budgell down.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Coulfield throws a jab when Budgell was well out of range.
Budgell closes the distance and clinches up with Coulfield, looking for a takedown. Budgell pushes Coulfield against the ropes but Coulfield circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Coulfield throws a front kick aimed at Budgell's knee but Budgell avoids it well.
Coulfield cracks Budgell with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the ropes.
Budgell closes this distance looking for a takedown but Coulfield circles away.
Budgell takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Budgell is breathing heavily.
A left and a right from Coulfield both land. Nice combination.


It looks like Adam Budgell has been cut.
Budgell on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
Danga de danga de dang - Coulfield scores with a four punch combination!

Coulfield gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Coulfield's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Budgell will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Adam Budgell. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Coulfield looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Budgell moves forwards but Coulfield connects with a nice, crisp jab.


Budgell is rocked!

Coulfield rushes Budgell and pushes him back against the ropes in a clinch.
Oh Budgell is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
A body shot lands from Coulfield.
Coulfield scores with a shot to the side of Budgell's head.
Coulfield lands with a left to the head.

Coulfield escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Coulfield dances in with a quick combination. Budgell is being worked over with jabs and crosses. Oooh, a right straight from Coulfield snaps Budgell's head back. Budgell stumbles backwards against the ropes. Coulfield steps forward and delivers a right cross that connects with Budgell's jaw, simultaneously knocking him out and sending his mouthpiece into the crowd! There's a worthy souvenir for the fans. This one is over folks. Budgell just didn't come prepared.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:01 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Holden Coulfield!
