PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Blah Blah (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Don Shaw (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Blah comes to the ring accompanied by Egg. Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Blah Blah!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Don Shaw!
The judges for this bout are James Atkins, Daniel Bishop and James Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Blah showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Shaw.
Shaw throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Blah sees it coming and avoids it easily.

Blah looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Blah stopping the sweep attempt from Shaw.
Shaw keeping full guard, as Blah tries to pass.
Blah works a leg free and moves into half guard.

Blah is looking for a kimura but Shaw is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Blah to get the leverage.
Blah works his way into full mount!
Shaw has given up his back. Will we see Blah going for some submissions?
Blah is not going to allow Shaw to sit and survive in this position.

Shaw is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Blah gets his way!

That's one minute gone in the round.

Blah is looking for a choke. Shaw gets to his feet with his opponent on his back and slams him to the mat. Shaw manages to squirm out of the attempted choke and turns into his opponent's guard.
Shaw really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Blah. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Blah is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Shaw defends well.
Blah looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Shaw puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Shaw is trying to control. Blah wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Blah is trying to get back to full guard.
Shaw seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
Blah is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Shaw is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Blah moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Blah has his foot on Shaw's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Shaw works his way back into a safe position though.
Blah is breathing heavily.
Shaw preventing the sweep.

Blah had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Shaw is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Blah Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Shaw's back instead.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Shaw controlling the position well but he knows he's in a bad position.
Shaw tries to break free.

Blah is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Shaw defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.

Shaw is having to fend off submission attempts from Blah, who is looking to sink in the choke. Blah doesn't have the hooks in though and Shaw manages to reverse position! He's now on top, in his opponent's guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Shaw decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Blah, up you get!
Shaw misses the shot to the body.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Shaw scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
Shaw throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Shaw connects with a looping right hand.
Shaw throws a front kick aimed at Blah's knee but Blah avoids it well.
Blah looks to land a left hand but Shaw moved out of range nicely.
Blah thows a left - swing and a miss!
Shaw changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Shaw throws a series of punches but Blah moves out of range.
Blah takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Blah on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Shaw lands an overhand right.
Shaw throws the left hand but Blah avoids the punch easily.
Shaw throws a right and a left that both miss.
Shaw tries to work over Blah's front leg with a kick but Blah checks it.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Shaw works the jab nicely.
Shaw fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Blah shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Shaw but Shaw pushes him off and we're back to square one.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Blah is defended easily by Shaw.
Blah tries to move into range but Shaw moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Shaw slaps away a takedown attempt from Blah, before circling back to the center of the mat.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Blah Blah. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Shaw uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Shaw throws a quick inside leg kick.
Shaw is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Blah.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Blah shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Shaw as he avoids it easily.
Blah takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Shaw fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Blah looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Shaw tries to bum rush Blah with a series of wild strikes but Blah uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Don Shaw dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the ring so we can get back down to business.

Shaw leaves Blah with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Shaw stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Shaw wants it to stay on the feet.
Blah Blah seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Shaw moves out of range of the strikes.
No luck for Blah with that takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Blah Blah. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Blah throws a jab but it's blocked by Shaw.
Shaw with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Don Shaw is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Shaw leaves Blah with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Don Shaw seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Shaw throws the left hand but Blah avoids the punch easily.
A jab lands there for Shaw.
Shaw throws a head kick but Blah moves out of range.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Shaw connects with a solid leg kick.
Shaw throws a jab when Blah was well out of range.
Blah needs to keep his hands up - Shaw had a free shot at his head there.

Shaw feints and then cracks Blah's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Blah down.
Blah gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Shaw.
Blah takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Shaw lands with a big left! Blah is wobbled badly! Shaw comes in with a flurry of punches and drops Blah to the floor. The ref jumps in to save him from unneccessary punishment.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:17 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Don Shaw!
