Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Pierre St George (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shane MacKallister (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Shane MacKallister! The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Elvis Blanc and Steve Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! MacKallister scores with a nice right hand.
MacKallister closes this distance looking for a takedown but St George circles away. A telegraphed takedown attempt from MacKallister is defended easily by St George. MacKallister fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Pierre St George has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Shane MacKallister. St George tries for a takedown but MacKallister circles away easily and MacKallister counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in St George's guard now. St George tries for a kimura but MacKallister is defending well. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. St George is looking to take a break and control but MacKallister is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. St George working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. St George is breathing heavily. MacKallister is looking for a sweep.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. MacKallister fails with an attempt to clinch.

MacKallister closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. St George did well to prevent MacKallister getting side control. Ground and pound from MacKallister.
That's three minutes gone in the round. MacKallister postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for St George to stand up. MacKallister gets a takedown into half guard. MacKallister working over St George with some ground and pound. St George looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. St George gets full guard. MacKallister lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. St George will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. MacKallister is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. MacKallister passes St George's left leg - he's now in half guard. MacKallister is trying to work for a kimura but St George is defending well.

MacKallister is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. St George wants to control but MacKallister is keeping busy and won't allow it. St George is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because MacKallister is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him. MacKallister looks to score some points with some ground and pound. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. MacKallister lands a nice short elbow. St George is looking to control MacKallister's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can St George avoid being mounted? MacKallister lands strikes from half guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

St George tries to clinch up but MacKallister circles away and keeps his distance. St George throws a sloppy head kick and MacKallister moves out of range easily. MacKallister doesn't succeed with the takedown and St George counters with a big head kick but MacKallister shrugs it off. St George is looking to take this fight into the clinch. St George is looking to land body kicks. St George staying out of range there. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. MacKallister closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. St George on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. MacKallister lands with a punch from half guard. St George wants to get back to full guard.

MacKallister seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. MacKallister connects with a nice short shot to St George's temple. MacKallister working St George over with strikes. MacKallister winds up and cracks St George with a swinging punch to the side of the head. St George has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. MacKallister is working away from the top position though. MacKallister looks to score some points with some ground and pound. MacKallister has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount. MacKallister lands a big shot there that rocks St George but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
