PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Brandon Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Matt Guy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jones comes to the cage accompanied by Hey Ya'll. Matt Guy will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Brandon Jones! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Matt Guy! The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Gwen Towbar and Tiny Johnson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Guy moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot. Guy cracks Jones with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
Jones is rocked! The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Guy blocks a head kick by Jones.
A punch combination from Guy misses. Jones is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Guy's half guard. Guy wants to control but Jones is keeping busy and won't allow it. Jones wants to work for an arm triangle but Guy is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Jones is working for a kimura but Guy is defending it quite comfortably.
Jones is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Jones is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Jones is breathing heavily. Guy is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jones looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Guy is trying to get back to full guard. Guy is trying to control but can't.
Jones seems to be working for a kimura but Guy defends the submission attempt. Guy has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Jones is working away from the top position though.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Jones falls off balance throwing a combination
and Guy counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Jones takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Guy digs a good body shot into Jones's ribs. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Guy lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Guy misses with a series of wild punches.
Guy's corner calls for a 1-2. Guy obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range. Guy throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd. Guy scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent. Guy looks to land a combination but Jones avoids it well. Guy throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Jones on the side of the head. Guy scores with a body shot.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Guy drops Jones with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Jones looks back up at him and smiles so Guy waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.
Oh Jones is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Guy misses with a double jab.
Jones seems to have got his legs back now. Jones takes a jab right on the kisser.
Guy throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Guy feints a kick and comes over the top with a right hand, followed by a left hook - both land, sending Jones crashing to the mat! This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:27 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Matt Guy!
