Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Daniel Cesar and Mauricio Rocha.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Assis ducks right into an uppercut from Cortez.
Cortez lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Assis fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Cortez connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
Cortez gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Cortez wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Cortez is trying to break the clinch but Assis is controlling him.
Assis tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Cortez just stands there and leans against the cage.
Assis pulls guard effortlessly.
Cortez wants to stand but Assis has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Cortez wants to control from the top but Assis keeps moving.
Assis is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Cortez is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Assis has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Cortez is looking to defend but Assis has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Cortez! Assis pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Cortez taps out and this one is all over!
