The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Carvin shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
comton takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Carvin is defended easily by comton.

comton closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Carvin did well to prevent comton getting side control.
comton not landing any meaningful shots this time.
comton is looking to advance position but Carvin won't allow it.
Carvin looks like he's trying to stand up.

Carvin closes the distance and pushes comton back into the cage.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

comton goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Carvin rolls with the submission and now he's on top in comton's guard! Nice work there by Carvin!

comton looking for a guillotine here but Carvin defends easily.

comton throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Carvin escapes and throws comton's legs to the side, diving into side control!

You can see the frustration on Carvin's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

comton is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Carvin is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

comton swings around for an armbar but Carvin sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into comton's guard.

Carvin has his takedown stuffed

and comton decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Carvin's guard.
comton is pushing down on Carvin's leg trying to pass to half guard. Carvin is fighting to maintain full guard but comton has managed to sneak the leg through.

Carvin is defending against the submission attempts here by comton.

comton is looking for a kimura but Carvin is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for comton to get the leverage.
Carvin is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of comton's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take comton's back!

Carvin lands with a nice looking elbow that stuns comton.

Oooh a big shot gets through from Carvin. Many more shots like that and the referee will have to think about stepping in!

Carvin has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, comton has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
comton wants to control but Carvin is having none of it.

comton looks very frustrated and is flailing away with strikes from the bottom. His corner are telling him to stay calm.
