Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Mairbek Taisumov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Rice (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mairbek Taisumov!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, John Rice!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Cecil Peabody and Alan Glass.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Taisumov gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Rice to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Taisumov avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Rice postures up in Taisumov's guard and throws a big left but Taisumov blocks it.
Rice has gone for a leg lock! Taisumov slips out almost immediately though and dives into Rice's guard.
Taisumov trying to control the position from guard on top but Rice is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Rice is trying to keep Taisumov in close.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Rice might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Taisumov kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Rice is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Rice is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Rice is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Rice sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Taisumov defending well though.
Rice missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Rice thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Taisumov is trying to stand back up but Rice is controlling him
Rice seems to be working for a kimura but Taisumov defends the submission attempt.
Rice is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Rice misses with a head shot. Taisumov uses the momentum to regain guard.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Rice fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Taisumov avoids it really well and circles away.
Taisumov pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Taisumov really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
That's three minutes gone in the round.
Rice tries to bum rush Taisumov with a series of wild strikes but Taisumov uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Taisumov fails in his attempt to clinch.
Rice closes this distance looking for a takedown but Taisumov circles away.
Rice shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Rice was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Rice looks gassed!
Taisumov avoids a series of strikes thrown by Rice.
Rice connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Rice throws some wild stikes that Taisumov manages to avoid easily.
Rice pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Rice looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
Taisumov is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
That's four minutes gone in the round.
Taisumov holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Rice tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
Taisumov is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Taisumov trying desperately to get to his feet.
Taisumov tries to reverse the position but Rice maintains control.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Rice cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Rice punching from mount but Taisumov doing a good job of avoiding damage.
Taisumov takes a big shot to the dome and his eyes have rolled back in his head! Rice's killer instinct has kicked in as he finishes the fight with more strikes. Impressive finish.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 5:03 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). John Rice!
