Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Dave Giles!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Antonio Nogueira!
The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Shigeki Sano and Yuuki Gou.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nogueira shoots in for a takedown but Giles shows good takedown defense.

Giles gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Nogueira to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Nogueira is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Giles has managed to free his arm - good work.

Nogueira is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Giles defends it well.

Nogueira seems to be working for a kimura but Giles defends the submission attempt.

Nogueira tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Nogueira has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Nogueira is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Giles is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Nogueira tries to advance to mount but Giles denies him.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Nogueira wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Giles, who protects the arm well.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Nogueira goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Giles rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Nogueira's guard! Nice work there by Giles!
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Giles wants to control from the top but Nogueira keeps moving.
Giles has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Giles loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Nogueira is looking for a triangle but Giles pushes his legs off easily.
Nogueira is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Nogueira closes the distance and clinches up with Giles, looking for a takedown. Nogueira pushes Giles against the ropes but Giles circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Nogueira looks for a takedown but Giles sprawls well.
Dave Giles has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Antonio Nogueira.
A left lands for Giles.
Dave Giles is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

It looks like Antonio Nogueira has been cut.

Nogueira takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Giles misses with a double jab.
Good leg kick by Giles there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Nogueira takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Giles tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Giles buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Giles tries a head kick but it misses.
Giles lands a jab.
Giles throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Giles looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Giles goes for a high kick. It partially lands.
Giles sizes up Nogueira with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dave Giles dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Antonio Nogueira's cut.
That's time! Giles's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Nogueira is breathing heavily.
Nogueira is thwarting Giles's attempts to control the position.

Giles moves into full guard.
Nogueira advances position into side control!

Giles is trying to control Nogueira's posture but Nogueira avoids it.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Nogueira has hold of Giles's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Giles seems comfortable defending it but Nogueira has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Giles is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Giles is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Nogueira couldn't care less - he's delighted!
