Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Gegard Mousasi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Noah Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Noah Smith told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Gegard Mousasi! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Noah Smith! The judges for this bout are Daniel Blasius, Aafke Stam and Patrick Alders.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mousasi shoots in for a double leg but Smith sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Mousasi fails with an attempt to clinch.
Mousasi misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Mousasi doesn't manage to clinch there - Smith circles away.
Mousasi tries to clinch up but Smith circles away and keeps his distance. Mousasi takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily. Mousasi tries to clinch there but Smith circles away.
Mousasi takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness. Mousasi doesn't manage to clinch there - Smith circles away.
Mousasi takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket. Smith moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
It looks like Gegard Mousasi has been cut. Smith lands a jab to Mousasi's midsection. Mousasi tries to clinch up but Smith circles away and keeps his distance. Mousasi dives in and grabs Smith's left leg, looking for a takedown. Smith pushes down on Mousasi's head and hops out. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Gegard Mousasi. That's going to take a lot out of him. Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Smith!

That's one minute gone in the round. Smith shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Mousasi napping and manages to drive through into side control! Smith lands an elbow. Smith trying to control the action but Mousasi is working from the bottom. Mousasi on the wrong end of some ground and pound. Smith in side control, throwing shots but Mousasi defends. Mousasi is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Smith has just dragged him back down to the mat. Mousasi managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Smith.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Mousasi prevents Smith from moving into mount. Smith working the ground and pound.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Smith connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Mousasi some visible discomfort.
Smith laying and praying for a moment but Mousasi takes advantage and regains half guard. Smith thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Mousasi's head. Smith passes to full mount! Smith looking to control and managing it successfully. Mousasi tries to lock up and control but Smith gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Smith putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound! Smith postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Mousasi looks a forlorn figure.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Smith lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning. Smith throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage. Smith is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Mousasi can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

Noah Smith dominated that round. The cut man is working on Gegard Mousasi's cut. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Smith ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent. Smith shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Mousasi is trying to defend but Smith finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. Mousasi is trying to control but can't.

Gegard Mousasi seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Mousasi darts in trying to clinch and Smith counters with a stiff right hand. Smith throws a series of strikes that have Mousasi backpedaling.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Smith can do anything to dispel that myth. Smith is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Smith trying to control the position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Mousasi is looking to work some ground and pound but Smith has wrist control. Smith is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Smith wants to sweep here but Mousasi controlling him for the moment. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Noah Smith showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The cut man is working on Gegard Mousasi's cut. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!

Smith takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Smith tries to free his leg and advance position but Mousasi is retaining full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mousasi controls Smith momentarily but Smith frees himself. Smith postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Smith trying to control but Mousasi is working from the bottom.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Mousasi with a poor takedown and Smith cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Mousasi tries to grapple but his opponent circles and Smith counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Mousasi! Mousasi's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up. Smith cracks Mousasi with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Mousasi wants to control but Smith is having none of it.

Mousasi suckers Smith into throwing a sloppy strike and uses the momentum to reverse the position beautifully! Mousasi is now in Smith's guard!
Mousasi stands up and waves to Smith to follow him. Gegard Mousasi has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Noah Smith is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Mousasi takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness. Mousasi tries for a takedown but Smith circles away easily and Smith counters with a nice uppercut. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Gegard Mousasi. That's going to take a lot out of him. Smith displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination. Mousasi tries to clinch but fails miserably and Smith counters with a lovely straight right hand! Smith ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Smith drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Mousasi is not content to let Smith control the position. Smith controlling the position. Smith trying to control the action but Mousasi is working from the bottom. Smith wants to take a breather but Mousasi manages to regain guard - a lesson learnt for Smith.
And that's the end of the fight! Noah Smith comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Smith has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
