Love kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is wait a min. This should be a great matchup!

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jack Cods!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Shimada, Yukihiro Yamamoto and Yasuomi Hirokawa.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Cods fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Love, pushing him back against the cage.
Cods missing with knees to the body.
A shot in the inside from Cods.
Cods lands a knee to the head.


It looks like Teddy Love has been cut.
Cods tries to land knees in the clinch but Love avoids the damage to the body.
Cods slowing the pace effectively.

Love has Cods pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Love pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Cods tumbling to the mat - Love dives into Cods's guard.
Love with a flurry of punches that miss.
Love stops Cods from standing up.
Love postures up.

Love drops back, looking for a kneebar! Cods looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Cods looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Cods!
Love can't do much from the bottom here.

Cods stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Jack Cods is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Cods throws and low kick but Love moves out of range easily.
Cods goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.

Cods clinches.
Cods throws a knee to the head but misses.
Love takes a knee right on the jaw!
Cods using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Love has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
A right hook to the body lands for Cods.
Cods crunches a lovely knee into Love's ribcage.
Love is breathing heavily.
Cods is leaning against Love and scores with a nice uppercut to the body.
Cods lands a knee to the head there! That was nasty!

Cods escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Cods scores with a nice right hand.

Love blocks a head kick by Cods.
The fighters circling - Cods throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Love slips under a jab.
A slow jab from Cods misses its intended target.
Cods looks for the body kick but Love saw that one coming.
Cods tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Love paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Cods throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Cods dips to his left and cracks Love with an uppercut!


Teddy Love's cut is getting worse.
Cods misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Love.
Cods tries to clinch up but Love circles away and keeps his distance.

Love decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Love trying to control from half guard but Cods is working away.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Love slips a nice elbow through Cods's hands, connecting with Cods's forehead.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jack Cods dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Teddy Love's cut.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


A jab from Cods misses.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Love.
Cods thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Love if he has to take too many more of those.
Love avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Love dodges the punch combination from Cods.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Love tries to score a power double leg takedown but Cods sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Love somewhat.

Cods gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Cods scores with a knee to the head.
Cods putting his Muay Thai to good use. He has Love in a tight clinch and is doing some damage with knees to the body.

Cods pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Cods shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
Cods throws a shot from downtown. Love moves away and avoids it.
Cods thumps Love with a low kick.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Cods closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Cods scores with a knee to the head.


Teddy Love's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.
Cods scores with a nice hook to the head.
Cods throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Loves head.

Cods breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Cods lands a nice shot that snaps Love's head back.


Jeez, Teddy Love's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked.
Cods throws a jab but it's blocked by Love.
Cods swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Cods tries to close the distance and clinch up but Love swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Love scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Love prevents Cods from improving his position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Cods is positioning himself well to prevent Love advancing to mount.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Cods trying to hold on to Love's head to control him but Love postures up.
Cods wants to improve his position but Love is controlling well.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Love is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Cods has his hands clasped together around Love's back. He's all about the action.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jack Cods showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Cods lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Love or not.
Cods lands with a left to the head.
Cods lands a knee to the head there! That was nasty!

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Teddy Love's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:42 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Jack Cods! Jack Cods retains his super heavyweight title!
