Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Tommy Coleman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ruben Valderon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tommy Coleman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 8 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ruben Valderon!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Chris Downing and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Coleman throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Valderon's waist but Valderon gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Coleman off to one side.
Valderon misses with a few strikes there.
Valderon tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Valderon throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Coleman.
Coleman shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Valderon but Valderon pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Valderon doesn't manage to clinch there - Coleman circles away.
Valderon throws a right hand that Coleman ducks under and follows up with a left that Coleman also avoids with ease.
Coleman will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Valderon thuds his right hand into Coleman's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.

Valderon throws a lazy right hand but Coleman sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Valderon tries to clinch up but Coleman circles away and keeps his distance.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Coleman is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Coleman wants to sweep here but Valderon controlling him for the moment.
Valderon is looking to work some ground and pound but Coleman has wrist control.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Valderon is looking to work some ground and pound but Coleman has wrist control.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Valderon throws a hook to the side of Coleman's head but Coleman sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

No luck for Coleman with that takedown attempt.

Coleman moves into the clinch.
Valderon is trying to break the clinch but Coleman is controlling him.
Valderon has had enough of the clinch but Coleman keeps him there for the moment.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Coleman is defended easily by Valderon.

That was a close round but I would say that Tommy Coleman will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Coleman is trying to trip Valderon. He has hold of a leg but Valderon is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Coleman persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
Valderon has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Coleman sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Valderon's guard.

Coleman seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Valderon does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Coleman is looking to take a break and control but Valderon is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Valderon is looking for a sweep. Coleman is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Coleman closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Coleman shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Valderon's guard.

Valderon looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Coleman passes into side control.

Coleman thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Coleman is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Valderon has escaped the position, nice work there.
Valderon is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Coleman's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.

Valderon scrambles, trying to get to his feet, but Coleman manages to mount him!

Coleman has control of Valderon's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Valderon regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Valderon shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Coleman defends it nicely.

A frustrated look appears on Valderon's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Coleman tries to score a body lock takedown but Valderon shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Coleman tries to pull guard but Valderon holds him up against the ropes and eventually Coleman drops back down to his feet.

Ruben Valderon has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Valderon is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Coleman is aware though and is defending well.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Coleman, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
