Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Gabriel Oliveira! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Svete Osh! The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Stewart Dunkirk and Tiny Johnson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Osh swinging wilding here.
Oliveira takes the fight into the clinch. Osh should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete. Osh manages to break the clinch.
Oliveira throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Osh was covering up waiting for the punch and Oliveira finishes the takedown easily into guard. Oliveira tries to free his leg and advance position but Osh is retaining full guard. Osh really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Oliveira. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Oliveira slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Oliveira drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Oliveira jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Oliveira thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Oliveira looking to pass the guard. Oliveira drops back for a leg! That's one minute gone in the round. Osh is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Osh is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Oliveira defends well. Oliveira is stalling in the full guard. Osh is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Oliveira is controlling him.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Osh darts in trying to clinch and Oliveira counters with a shoot takedown. Osh fights it but they end up in guard. Oliveira stands and steps away. Osh gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Osh clinches but Oliveira breaks the clinch enabling Oliveira to counter with a crisp jab. Oliveira shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Osh napping and manages to drive through into side control! Oliveira remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while. Osh is looking to reverse the position. Oliveira stands up and beckons Osh to his feet. Osh looks gassed! Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Oliveira tries to clinch up. Oliveira's corner calls for a 1-2. Oliveira obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range. Oliveira pushes Osh up against the cage in a clinch. Oliveira is trying to trip Osh. He has hold of a leg but Osh is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Oliveira persists though and gets the takedown into guard. Oliveira looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Oliveira has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. Oliveira drops back for a leg here. A bit of a high risk move... He's looking for a kneebar by the looks of things. Now both of them are looking for submissions. Oliveira seems to have locked his on tight now - Osh screams in pain and taps out furiously! It certainly was a high risk move but it's paid off for Oliveira, as he picks up the win!
