Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Derek Sherinian (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Randy Lamon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Randy Lamon has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sherinian shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Lamon as he avoids it easily.
Sherinian looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Lamon closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Sherinian drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Lamon manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Sherinian has Lamon in his guard.
Lamon must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Sherinian had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Lamon is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Sherinian Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Lamon's back instead.

Sherinian looking to break Lamon's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Lamon remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Sherinian will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!
Sherinian is trying to stick to Lamon's back but Lamon is turning into Sherinian. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Sherinian's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Lamon.

Lamon decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Sherinian, up you get!

Lamon closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Sherinian did well to prevent Lamon getting side control.

Lamon seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Sherinian really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Lamon jumps guard but Sherinian stands there with Lamon around his waist. Lamon gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Lamon breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Lamon breaks Sherinian's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
Lamon really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Sherinian. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Lamon lands a couple of digs.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Lamon wants to control from the top but Sherinian keeps moving.
Sherinian can't keep his opponent in guard - Lamon advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
The fighters are battling for position here. Sherinian manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

Sherinian has his foot on Lamon's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Lamon works his way back into a safe position though.
