Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Matthew McPain!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jae Wilco!
The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, William Peck and Ian Loll.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McPain shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
McPain connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Wilco lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Wilco drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
A combination from Wilco does no damage.
McPain missing with a left hand there. Wilco was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
McPain bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Jae Wilco seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Wilco throws a nice looking combination but McPain bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Wilco misses with a series of wild punches.
McPain keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
McPain throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Wilco throws the left hand but McPain avoids the punch easily.
Wilco swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Wilco looks to land a combination but McPain avoids it well.
McPain misses with a wild body shot.
McPain throws a head kick that misses.
Wilco drops McPain with a left right combo! Wilco follows him down to the ground into side control.


McPain is rocked!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Wilco is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, McPain has escaped the position, nice work there.
Oh McPain is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

Wilco thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

McPain is trying to get back to his feet.
McPain seems to have got his legs back now.

Wilco is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. McPain knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
McPain wants to get back to his feet.
McPain prevents Wilco from improving position.
McPain is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.
Wilco tries to advance to mount but McPain denies him.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.
McPain fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Wilco manages to avoid it.
McPain scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Matthew McPain is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Wilco looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
McPain takes a swing at Wilco's ribcage but misses.
McPain misses the jab.
McPain lands with a nice combination. Wilco backs away looking to recover.
Wilco with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling McPain to score with a decent uppercut.
Wilco throws a combination. McPain tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
McPain misses with an uppercut. Wilco saw that one coming.
Wilco misses with a takedown attempt - McPain sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
McPain lands a head kick. Wilco smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
Wilco misses with a double jab
and McPain counters with an outside leg kick.
McPain misses with a hook. Wilco ducked under it nicely.
Wilco throws a series of punches but McPain avoids them all with ease.
McPain misses with a wild body shot.
McPain lands with a straight right. Wilco didn't see that one coming.
Wilco fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Wilco throws a right hand that McPain ducks under and follows up with a left that McPain also avoids with ease.
Wilco misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
McPain lands a jab-cross combination.
Wilco misses with the combination.
Some wild striking there from Wilco.

Wilco fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. McPain sprawls well initially but Wilco persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
McPain won't allow Wilco to pass to mount.
Wilco thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed McPain's head.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Wilco is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and McPain defends it well.
Wilco tries to pass the half guard into mount. McPain knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Wilco looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Wilco works his way into side control.
Wilco passes to full mount! That's big trouble for McPain!

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Wilco goes for an armbar but McPain turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from McPain.

Wilco is looking for a triangle but McPain pushes his legs off easily.

Wilco is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Wilco looking for submissions from the bottom but instead McPain passes into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Wilco moves into full guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

McPain avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Wilco is looking to sinch up a triangle. McPain throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Wilco's body to avoid the submission. Wilco has instead reached around McPain's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Wilco arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Jae Wilco!
