Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between John Melbrooks (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tom Fritz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Melbrooks comes to the cage accompanied by Motorhead - Smiling like a killer. Fritz has chosen Metallica - Enter Sandman as his entrance music. Tom Fritz has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, John Melbrooks! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
9 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Tom Fritz! The judges for this bout are Albert Achterberg, Aafke Stam and Paulsen Ambrosius.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Melbrooks lands with a thumping leg kick.
Melbrooks throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
Fritz moves out of range as Melbrooks throws a body kick.
Melbrooks misses with a looping right. Melbrooks stuffs the takedown. Melbrooks connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there. John Melbrooks seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Melbrooks throws a head kick but Fritz moves out of range.

Fritz scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. Melbrooks wants to control but Fritz is keeping busy.
Melbrooks is refusing to be controlled, as Fritz sits in half guard. Melbrooks desperately trying to maintain half guard. Fritz trying to control the action but Melbrooks is working from the bottom.
That's one minute gone in the round. Melbrooks has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Fritz is working away from the top position though. Fritz throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Fritz wants to work for an arm triangle but Melbrooks is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Fritz lands a nice short elbow. Melbrooks wants to get back to full guard. Fritz thows a huge punch but Melbrooks dodges it nicely.
Melbrooks has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Fritz is working away from the top position though.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Melbrooks wants to get back to full guard. Fritz wants to control but Melbrooks is keeping him busy. Fritz looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Melbrooks wants to get back to his feet but Fritz is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Melbrooks knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Fritz on the ground.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Melbrooks. Melbrooks throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Fritz's head. Melbrooks missing with a left hand there. Fritz was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Fritz fails with the takedown. Melbrooks displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Fritz. John Melbrooks has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tom Fritz. Fritz shoots in but no luck this time. Melbrooks chopping away at his opponent's legs.
A head kick misses from Melbrooks. Melbrooks throws a sloppy head kick and Fritz moves out of range easily.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Fritz takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh. Fritz shoots in looking for a takedown. Melbrooks tries to sprawl out of it but Fritz keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Melbrooks manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Fritz looks gassed! Melbrooks keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Melbrooks attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin. A head kick misses from Melbrooks. Melbrooks lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head. Fritz fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Melbrooks sprawls well initially but Fritz persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Fritz wants to pass the guard but Melbrooks is defending well. Melbrooks is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that John Melbrooks will probably get the nod. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Fritz takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it. Fritz shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Melbrooks really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Melbrooks wants to improve position but instead he's given up his back. Melbrooks defending nicely against the rear naked choke attempt.

That's one minute gone in the round. Fritz struggling to land strikes to the head as Melbrooks covers up. Melbrooks is in a bad position with Fritz working for a choke. Melbrooks manages to spin nicely into guard and the danger is over for the moment. Fritz is breathing heavily. Melbrooks not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Melbrooks has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Fritz has his foot on Melbrooks's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Melbrooks works his way back into a safe position though. Melbrooks not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Melbrooks trying to control the position from guard on top but Fritz is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Fritz manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Melbrooks manages to get himself to full guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Melbrooks is doing well to control the position and prevent Fritz from advancing to side control. Melbrooks has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Melbrooks is in trouble now - Fritz has advanced to mount! Melbrooks is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Melbrooks blocking the ground and pound. Melbrooks is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Fritz prevents Melbrooks from getting the reversal.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Fritz is going olschool here, as he tries to force Melbrooks to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Melbrooks shrugs it off. Melbrooks tries to hold on but Fritz pushes him away.
The referee stands the fighters back up. John Melbrooks just wasn't active enough from the dominant position. Melbrooks connects with a crisp jab. Melbrooks fails with an attempt to clinch.
Melbrooks throws a leg kick which misses Fritz's front leg but catches the back leg as Fritz tries to avoid it. Melbrooks defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Fritz. Fritz avoids the head kick by Melbrooks.
Melbrooks wants to clinch up but Fritz keeps it at a distance. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Melbrooks throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Melbrooks throws a sloppy head kick and Fritz moves out of range easily. Fritz fails with a takedown attempt. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Tom Fritz showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

That's going to take a lot out of Tom Fritz. A head kick misses from Melbrooks. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Melbrooks scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent. Melbrooks tries to close the distance and clinch but Fritz swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Melbrooks connects with a solid leg kick. John Melbrooks is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Fritz takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
That's one minute gone in the round. Melbrooks clinches up with Fritz and pushes him back against the cage. Melbrooks throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Fritz blocks it with crossed arms. Melbrooks connects with a nasty looking knee right to Fritz's face.
Melbrooks with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.
Melbrooks pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. A slapping leg kick lands for Melbrooks.
Melbrooks throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Fritz. Melbrooks throws a head kick that misses. Melbrooks swings for the body but Fritz moves out of range.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Fritz. Melbrooks tries to clinch there but Fritz circles away.

That's two minutes gone in the round. A head kick misses from Melbrooks. Fritz closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Melbrooks to the mat! Melbrooks manages to get full guard. Fritz won't allow Melbrooks to get back to his feet. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Fritz wants to control from the top but Melbrooks keeps moving. Fritz postures up.

Melbrooks wants to stand and escape but Fritz is having none of it. Fritz throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Melbrooks trying to keep a closed guard but Fritz is proving a slippery customer.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. A head kick misses from Melbrooks. Tom Fritz is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Melbrooks throws a nice inside leg kick. Melbrooks tries a head kick but it misses.
Melbrooks tries to score with a low kick but Fritz moves his leg out of the way.
And that's the end of the fight! John Melbrooks showed his dominance in that final round. I think Melbrooks has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
