Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kage Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Thiago Mendes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Ren Mimura, Yasuomi Hirokawa and Yuuki Gou.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mendes tries to close the distance and clinch up but Smith swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Smith shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Smith showed some decent athleticism there.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Mendes wants to control but Smith is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Smith is looking to take a break and control but Mendes is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Smith is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Mendes on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Smith with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Smith seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Mendes does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Mendes won't allow Smith to pass to mount.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Smith in particular looking to stall.

Mendes is looking to control Smith's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Mendes avoid being mounted?
Smith seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Smith is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Mendes doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Smith.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Smith is looking to work some ground and pound but Mendes has wrist control.
Mendes is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Smith defends well.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Smith knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Mendes on the ground.

Still in half guard, Smith seems content to control.
Smith wants to pass the guard but Mendes is defending well.
Smith is working hard here to advance position.
Smith is taking a breather. Mendes says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Smith throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Smith controlling the pace.
The referee stands the fighters back up. Kage Smith just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.
Smith fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
A head kick misses from Smith.
Smith has Mendes up against the cage in a clinch.
Smith avoiding damage.
Mendes is trying to break free.
Smith pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Smith fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Mendes, pushing him back against the cage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Kage Smith dominated that second round.
That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Smith.
Smith shoots in and bounces Mendes off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Mendes escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Smith gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Smith decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Mendes, up you get!

and Smith counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Mendes takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Mendes is staying active underneath Smith, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Smith working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Kage Smith overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Smith, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
