The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Penn will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Mendez lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.

Penn doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Penn defending well as Mendez loads up on a big left hand.
Mendez is looking to wear down Penn with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.

Mendez drops Penn with a beautiful combination! Penn stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Mendez is looking for the KO!

Penn cracks Mendez with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Enrique Mendez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Mendez throws a right hand that Penn ducks under and follows up with a left that Penn also avoids with ease.
Penn seems to have recovered his senses.
Mendez misses with a series of wild punches.
Penn lands with an overhand left.
Mendez takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Mendez throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Penn ducks under a wild hook from Mendez.
Penn stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.

Mendez gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
The fighters circle momentarily. Penn darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.

Penn might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.
Penn lands with a hook. Mendez tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.

Mendez is breathing heavily.
It's a brutal combination of punches from Penn! Mendez is backing up but he can't get away as Penn lands with one final shot to the jaw that drops Mendez and ends the fight. Great knockout.
