PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Yrjo Pieru (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alan Milkins (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Alan Milkins was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Yrjo Pieru!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Alan Milkins!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Wesley Smith and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pieru blocks a head kick by Milkins.
Pieru moves out of range of the body kick from Milkins.
Milkins tries to bum rush Pieru with a series of wild strikes but Pieru uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Pieru feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Pieru passes Milkins's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

Pieru is working for a kimura but Milkins is defending it quite comfortably.
Milkins wants to improve his position but Pieru is controlling well.
Milkins throws a strike from the bottom that misses.

Milkins gets back to full guard.
Pieru postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Milkins trying to keep a closed guard but Pieru is proving a slippery customer.
Pieru postures up in Milkins's guard and throws a big left but Milkins blocks it.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Milkins sizes up Pieru with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.

Pieru closes the distance and pushes Milkins back into the cage.

Pieru has clasped his hands together around Milkins's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.

Pieru is trying to get an arm triangle but Milkins is defending well.

Milkins wants to get back to his feet.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Milkins gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Milkins manages to get to full guard.
Pieru landing with the ground and pound.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Pieru slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Milkins is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Pieru off and has taken his back!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Milkins trying to secure his dominant position for a moment - making sure Pieru doesn't escape.
Pieru tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!

Pieru working to try and regain half guard.
Milkins thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage.
Milkins misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
Milkins wants to control the pace but Pieru is squirming around nicely.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Milkins cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Milkins looking to ground and pound but Pieru is blocking nicely.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Milkins swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Pieru is now in Milkins's guard. A big mistake from Milkins there, giving up the dominant position!
Pieru stands and throws Milkins's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Pieru landing with strikes to the head and body from side control.
Milkins is trying to buck Pieru off.
Milkins wants to control but Pieru postures up.
Pieru working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.
Milkins tries to wriggle free to get back to his feet but he's given up his back! Oops.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Yrjo Pieru dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Pieru takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Yrjo Pieru is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Milkins scores with a push kick.
Alan Milkins seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
A big right from Milkins misses.
Pieru takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
A clash of legs there as Pieru blocks the low kick.

Pieru throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Milkins was covering up waiting for the punch and Pieru finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Milkins avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Milkins trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Pieru stops Milkins from standing up.

Milkins has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Pieru can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Milkins throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Pieru escapes and throws Milkins's legs to the side, diving into side control!

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Milkins throws out a token jab with nothing on it.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Some wild striking there from Milkins.
Pieru steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Milkins.
Milkins cracks the inside of Pieru's front leg.

Pieru closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Pieru lands in his opponent's guard.
Pieru working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Pieru trying to control but Milkins is working from the bottom.
Pieru thows a big elbow that misses.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Pieru stops Milkins from standing up.
Pieru wants to control from the top but Milkins keeps moving.
Pieru trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Milkins is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Milkins decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
Good leg kick by Milkins there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Milkins misses with a straight right.
Pieru avoids the head kick by Milkins.
Pieru checks a leg kick nicely.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Milkins tries a low kick but Pieru avoids it.
Milkins throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Pieru.


It looks like Yrjo Pieru has been cut.
Milkins misses with a body shot.
Milkins tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Pieru was well out of range. Poor timing from Milkins.
Pieru moves out of range of the strikes.
Milkins lands with a slapping head kick.


Pieru is rocked!
Milkins measures up his opponent and throws a superman punch that connects to the jaw! Down goes Pieru! The ref steps in, and that's the ball game folks!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:41 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Superman Punch). Alan Milkins!
