The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hanson is looking to clinch but Samba is avoiding it.

Samba clinches.
Hanson has had enough of the clinch but Samba keeps him there for the moment.
Samba has Hanson pressed against the ropes, preventing Hanson from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Samba manages to break the clinch.
Samba stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Samba wants it to stay on the feet.

Hanson dips to his left and cracks Samba with an uppercut!


It looks like Louis Samba has been cut.

Hanson has managed to clinch.
Hanson has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Hanson prevents the takedown attempt.
Hanson wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Hanson changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Samba fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Samba scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.

Samba decides to stand back up. Samba steps back and let's Hanson get back to his feet.
Samba throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
Samba slips a jab and a cross from Hanson.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Samba shoots in for a takedown but Hanson shows good takedown defense.

Samba circles away from the clinch attempt

and Samba counters with a single leg into guard. Hanson didn't expect that.

Samba is looking to stand up but Hanson won't let him.
Hanson tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Hanson manages to escape and get back to his feet.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Samba tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Hanson smiles and moves away.
Jakob Hanson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Louis Samba.

and Samba counters with a one-two to the body.
Hanson stuffs the takedown attempt from Samba. Samba gets slowly back to his feet.
Samba looks gassed!
Hanson keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Hanson lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Samba circles away quickly and effectively.
Samba throws a series of punches but Hanson moves out of range.

Hanson closes the distance and clinches.

Samba breaks the clinch.

Hanson shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Samba napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Hanson creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
Samba is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Hanson asserts his dominance and retains side control.
Samba tries to contro but end up mounted... ooooh, that's bad.

Hanson has control of Samba's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Samba regains control of the situation pretty easily.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Samba is desperately trying to improve his position but Hanson has a good base and remains in mount.

Hanson is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Samba can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Hanson working for a submission here. He's tucked his head under his opponent's arm, looking for an arm triangle. He's hopped off into side control, looking to tighten the submission... is it going to work? He's given up a good position looking for it. Samba looks OK. Oh, I spoke too soon, he's out! That must have been tighter than I thought! Excellent work there by Hanson! Submission of the night perhaps?
