Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Paulo Santana (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Antonio Rua (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Paulo Santana! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Antonio Rua! The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Luis Engracia and Daniel Cesar.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Santana throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Rua's waist but Rua gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Santana off to one side. Rua changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Santana looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Santana is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Santana wants to control but Rua postures up. Rua stands up and we're back to a striking position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Santana connects with a nice looking jab.
Santana fails with a takedown attempt. Rua throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Rua closes the distance and clinches. Santana wants a takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Paulo Santana. That's going to take a lot out of him. Santana turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Santana manages to end up in side control. Santana tries to advance to mount but Rua denies him. Santana working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Santana is breathing heavily. Rua wants to get back to his feet but Santana drags him back down.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Santana is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Rua is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Rua is trying to get back to his feet. Santana working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Santana goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Rua has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Santana but great work by Rua.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Rua decides to take the fight back to the feet. Rua wants to clinch up but Santana keeps it at a distance. Rua tries to clinch but Santana is having none of it. Rua closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Rua decides to take the fight back to the feet. Rua clinches with his opponent.
Rua decides to pull guard. Santana wants to pass the guard but Rua is keeping the position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Rua looking for a sweep. Not yet Rua, not yet. Santana pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Rua is keeping the position for now. Rua keeping moving, preventing Santana from controlling successfully. Rua keeping full guard, as Santana tries to pass. Rua has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Antonio Rua dominated that round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Santana with a poor takedown and Rua counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Santana! Rua is standing up out of mount! Strange tactic there - he must really want this one on the feet! Santana misses with a takedown attempt and Rua counters with a single leg into guard. Santana didn't expect that. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Rua gets to his feet. Santana looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son! Santana shoots for a takedown but Rua saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Paulo Santana. That's going to take a lot out of him. Rua feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Rua wanted to stand there but Santana had control of the position. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's one minute gone in the round. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Santana is on top in guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Santana slips nicely into half guard. Santana is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Rua is just riding it out for now. Santana eventually gives up the hold. Santana is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Santana is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Rua defends it well. Santana seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Rua does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Rua trying to control from the bottom.
Santana looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Santana tries to pass the half guard into mount. Rua knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Rua has one foot on Santana's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet. Rua is looking to clinch but Santana is avoiding it.
Santana shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Santana was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Santana goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Rua is on top in guard.
Santana is trying to control the position but Rua postures up. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Antonio Rua showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!
Santana fails with the takedown and Rua counters with a takedown into side control. Santana tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Rua wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Rua decides to stand back up. Santana shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Rua counters with a nice double leg into guard. This has been an exciting period of action! Santana looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
That's one minute gone in the round. Santana is working hard here to advance position. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Santana throws his legs up looking for a submission but Rua uses it to pass to side control.
Rua decides to stand back up. Rua steps back and let's Santana get back to his feet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Rua looks to throw the jab but Santana is out of range. Santana fails with the takedown and Rua counters with a big head kick but Santana shrugs it off. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Paulo Santana. That's going to take a lot out of him. Santana shoots in and drives through. Rua sprawls well. Santana tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Rua was well out of range. Poor timing from Santana. Santana keeps the fight on the outside. Santana cracks Rua with a right hand to the side of the head. Santana takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
Rua tries to clinch but Santana is having none of it. Santana doesn't succeed with the takedown and Rua counters with a straight punch to the midsection. Santana circles away from the clinch attempt.
Santana fakes a head shot and lands one to the body. Santana gets the takedown into side control. Santana swings around for an armbar but Rua sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Santana's guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Rua stopping the sweep attempt from Santana. Antonio Rua is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Santana keeping full guard, as Rua tries to pass. Paulo Santana has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Rua stopping the sweep attempt from Santana.
And that's the end of the fight! Antonio Rua comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Rua has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
