Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, The WoodTik! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Carl Bell! The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Gwen Towbar and Wesley Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! WoodTik shoots in looking for a takedown. Bell tries to sprawl out of it but WoodTik keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Bell manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. WoodTik looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Bell is fending him off so far but WoodTik persists. Nope, Bell circles away and we're back to standing. WoodTik scores with a takedown into Bell's guard. WoodTik trying to stand up but can't free himself from Bell's guard. WoodTik is fighting to break Bell's control of his arms but Bell is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment. Bell throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
WoodTik is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. WoodTik avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
WoodTik wants to pass the guard but Bell is keeping the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Bell pushes WoodTik off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there. WoodTik doesn't manage to clinch there - Bell circles away.
Bell leaves WoodTik with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for The WoodTik. That's going to take a lot out of him. WoodTik is breathing heavily. WoodTik shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Bell but Bell pushes him off and we're back to square one. Bell shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Bell was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Bell lands a heavy elbow. WoodTik is trying desperately to improve position. Bell trying to control but he's not successful this time.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Bell goes for an armbar but WoodTik turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from WoodTik. WoodTik slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. You can see the frustration on Bell's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. WoodTik wants to lay and pray for a moment but Bell keeps working. WoodTik looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Bell is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. WoodTik wants to control but Bell is keeping him busy. Bell gets back to half guard. Bell wants to stand back up but WoodTik manages to pass into side control.
WoodTik is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Bell has escaped the position, nice work there. Bell wants to get back to his feet but WoodTik drags him back down.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. WoodTik decides to stand up, so the ref orders Bell to his feet. WoodTik gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Bell counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in WoodTik's guard now. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Bell trying to control the position from guard on top but WoodTik is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! WoodTik looking to control.
Bell's corner is telling him to maintain position. WoodTik working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Bell doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Bell manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. WoodTik had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Bell is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. WoodTik Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Bell's back instead. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. WoodTik is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Bell defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Carl Bell dominated that round. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!
Bell fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with WoodTik, pushing him back against the cage. WoodTik pulls Bell into guard.
Bell drops back, looking for a kneebar! WoodTik looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. WoodTik looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from WoodTik! Bell is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here. WoodTik working the ground and pound. WoodTik has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand. WoodTik tries for a takedown but Bell circles away easily and Bell counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Bell content to control rather than advance. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. WoodTik has his hands clasped together around Bell's back. He's all about the action.
That's one minute gone in the round. Bell sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. WoodTik defending well though. Bell looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. Bell missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Bell stalling away here and it's allowed WoodTik to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard. Bell stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. WoodTik swivels though and keeps the full guard. WoodTik wants to sweep here but Bell controlling him for the moment. WoodTik looking for a guillotine here but Bell defends easily.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Bell wants to control from the top but WoodTik keeps moving. WoodTik looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
WoodTik keeping moving, preventing Bell from controlling successfully. Bell is pushing down on WoodTik's leg trying to pass to half guard. WoodTik is fighting to maintain full guard but Bell has managed to sneak the leg through. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. WoodTik is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Bell pulls his head out easily. Bell works his way into side control.
That's three minutes gone in the round. WoodTik tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Bell wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. You can see the frustration on WoodTik's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Bell wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by WoodTik, who protects the arm well. WoodTik can't do much from the bottom here. Bell trying to control the position but WoodTik is working away.
That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Bell wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by WoodTik, who protects the arm well. Bell throwing strikes but WoodTik manages to buck up and roll into a nice reversal - now he's on top in side control! WoodTik is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Bell knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. WoodTik is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Bell is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. WoodTik tries to advance to mount but can't. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close second round but Carl Bell will probably get the nod - 10:9. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!
WoodTik tries to move into range but Bell moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand. Bell decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. WoodTik trying to control here.
Bell wants to take a breather but WoodTik is having none of it. Bell is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, WoodTik has managed to free his arm - good work. WoodTik looking for submissions off his back. WoodTik is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Bell pulls his head out easily. Carl Bell has got the better of the ground game so far. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Bell is working for a submission of some sort.
That's one minute gone in the round. Bell throws a strike but WoodTik avoids it easily and moves to full guard. Bell forces his way into half guard. WoodTik is trying to get back to full guard. Bell is thwarting WoodTik's attempts to control the position. Bell wants to take a breather but WoodTik is having none of it. Bell is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. WoodTik kicks Bell off and gets back to his feet. WoodTik blocks a leg kick. WoodTik shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away. WoodTik is working for a guillotine from mount but Bell frees his head quite easily.
Bell sneaks a leg under to get to half guard. Bell wants to control the action here but instead WoodTik manages to pass to full mount! Bell gives up his back whilst trying to strike.
Bell preventing the rear naked choke attempt from WoodTik. WoodTik could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Bell breaks WoodTik's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. WoodTik working for a triangle but Bell defends it easily.
WoodTik throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land. Carl Bell is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. WoodTik is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Bell wants to control from the top but WoodTik keeps moving. The WoodTik has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Bell sitting in guard, not really doing much.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Bell trying to control but WoodTik is working from the bottom. WoodTik has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Bell should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, WoodTik has tightened it up now! Bell should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
