Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Souichiro Nagi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Yodselenki Fairfax (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Yodselenki Fairfax has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Souichiro Nagi's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Souichiro Nagi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Yodselenki Fairfax!
The judges for this bout are Yasuomi Hirokawa, Yukihiro Shimada and Taro Takaoka.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Fairfax has taken the fight to the clinch.

Fairfax manages to break the clinch.
Nagi clinches but Fairfax breaks the clinch

and Fairfax counters with a shoot takedown. Nagi fights it but they end up in guard.
Fairfax stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Nagi swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Nagi is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Nagi working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Fairfax doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Fairfax manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Fairfax stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Nagi swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Fairfax tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Fairfax has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Nagi is not content to let Fairfax control the position.
Nagi is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Fairfax keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
Fairfax wants to take a breather but Nagi is having none of it.

Fairfax tries to stand but can't do so whilst Nagi controls his leg.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Nagi closes the distance looking to clinch

and Fairfax counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Fairfax.
Nagi tries to pull guard but Fairfax holds him up against the cage and eventually Nagi drops back down to his feet.
Nagi looking for a takedown.
Nagi wants a takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Souichiro Nagi. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Fairfax wants to break the clinch but can't.
Nagi drops down looking for an ankle pick but Fairfax pulls his leg out and moves away.
Nagi slaps away a takedown attempt from Fairfax, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Nagi avoids the head kick by Fairfax.
Nagi tries to score a power double leg takedown but Fairfax sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Nagi somewhat.
Horrible takedown by Fairfax or perhaps it was just good defense by Nagi which made him look bad.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Yodselenki Fairfax will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Fairfax tries to score a power double leg takedown but Nagi sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Fairfax somewhat.
Nagi will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Nagi tries to clinch but Fairfax is having none of it.

Nagi wants to get back to his feet.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Fairfax shoots for a takedown but Nagi saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

and Fairfax holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Nagi goes for a takedown attempt but Fairfax pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Nagi closes this distance looking for a takedown but Fairfax circles away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Souichiro Nagi. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Fairfax connects with a high kick.
Fairfax looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Nagi wants to clinch

and Fairfax counters by clinching up.

Fairfax pulls guard successfully.
Fairfax really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Nagi. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Fairfax had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Nagi is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Fairfax Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Nagi's back instead.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Fairfax can do anything to dispel that myth.

and Nagi takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Nagi displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Fairfax.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Fairfax changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Nagi tries to avoid it but Fairfax manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Nagi to the ground. Nagi escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

and Fairfax moves into the clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Yodselenki Fairfax showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Nagi has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Fairfax can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Fairfax stands and steps away. Nagi gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Fairfax is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Nagi is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a tringle but Fairfax frees his head nicely. Oh but Nagi has switched to an armbar! Fairfax is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
