Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Bret Hicken (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jonny Utah (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jonny Utah acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Bret Hicken! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jonny Utah! The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Daniel Franklin and Cecil Peabody.
 The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hicken shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Utah but Utah pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Excellent takedown into side control there by Hicken. Utah is trying to control Hicken's posture but Hicken avoids it. Hicken wants to lay and pray for a moment but Utah keeps working. An elbow from Hicken crashes against the mat.
Utah is not content to let Hicken control the position. Hicken cracks Utah with a big elbow. Utah is looking to regain half guard here but Hicken keeps moving and retains side control. Hicken trying to control the action but Utah is working from the bottom.
 That's one minute gone in the round. Utah holds on to Hicken's head and controls the position momentarily.
Hicken looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Utah can do anything to dispel that myth. Utah is in a bad spot here and he knows it... just holding on for now. Hicken trying to control the position but Utah is working away.
 It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Hicken shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Utah as he avoids it easily.
 That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Utah scores to the head and body with a nice combination! The fight stays on the outside here - Hicken looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Utah circles away from the clinch attempt.

Utah scores with a decent looking hook. Hicken avoids a punch combination nicely.
Utah scores with a one two! Hicken had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes. The fight stays on the outside here - Utah looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Hicken fails with the takedown. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Bret Hicken. That's going to take a lot out of him. Hicken is looking to clinch but Utah is avoiding it.
Horrible takedown by Hicken or perhaps it was just good defense by Utah which made him look bad.

and Hicken counters with a single leg into guard. Utah didn't expect that. Hicken is breathing heavily.
Utah is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Utah looking for a sweep. Not yet Utah, not yet. Utah has a closed guard, preventing Hicken from standing up. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Utah is pulling down on Hicken's head. It's preventing any offense from Hicken, at least for the moment. Hicken tries to free his leg and advance position but Utah is retaining full guard.
Utah kicks Hicken off and gets to his feet.
 That's four minutes gone in the round. A combination from Utah does no damage. No luck for Hicken with that takedown attempt. Hicken dodges the punch combination from Utah.

Utah forces Hicken back against the cage and clinches.
Hicken pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Hicken tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Utah drives through with a takedown into guard. Hicken is trying to control the position but Utah postures up. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Utah stands and steps away. Hicken gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Utah is looking to clinch. And that�s the end of the round � the fighters go back to their corners.
Jonny Utah dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Utah circles away from the clinch attempt.
Hicken with a lazy takedown attempt and Utah counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt. Utah scores with a jab. Hicken acknowledges it with a nod of the head. Utah connects with a looping right hand.
Bret Hicken is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Utah looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Hicken! Utah thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage. Hicken is looking to improve his position but Utah isn't that keen on the idea. Utah tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Utah misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
Poor strikes thrown by Utah there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!

 That's one minute gone in the round. Utah takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Hicken manages to regain half guard. Good work.
Utah stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Hicken to get to his feet. Utah is looking to clinch. Utah lands with a right hand. Utah tests Hicken's chin there with a solid looking shot. Utah darts in and out, connecting with a jab. Utah closes the distance looking to clinch
and Hicken counters by moving into the clinch.
 That's two minutes gone in the round. Hicken drops down looking for an ankle pick but Utah pulls his leg out and moves away.
Utah drives through with a takedown into guard. Hicken can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Utah controls the pace. Utah wants to control from the top but Hicken keeps moving.

Utah fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Hicken sprawls well initially but Utah persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Hicken is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Hicken is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Utah defends well. The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Utah. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.
 The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Good shot there by Utah.

Hicken is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Utah decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow. Utah's corner calls for a 1,2 combination and Utah duly obliges. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Hicken misses with a takedown attempt and Utah counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Bret Hicken. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Hicken is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Utah wants to control from the top but Hicken keeps moving.
 That's one minute gone in the round. Hicken will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Hicken wants to control but Utah passes easily into half guard.
Utah wants to stand but his hand is trapped. Hicken uses the opportunity to regain full guard. Utah must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Utah postures up in Hicken's guard and throws a big left but Hicken blocks it. Utah trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Hicken is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Utah wants to stand but Hicken has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
 That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
 Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Hicken doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Utah counters with a shoot takedown. Hicken fights it but they end up in guard. Hicken is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Hicken with a momentary lay and pray from half guard. Utah is refusing to be controlled, as Hicken sits in half guard. Utah pushes Hicken off looking to stand but Hicken dives back in and keeps control.
Hicken is trying to control. Utah wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Hicken is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Utah defends it well. Bret Hicken has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
 It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Hicken walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.

And that's the end of the fight! Jonny Utah comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Utah has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
