PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Brian Scott (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fet Bard (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bard has a niggling injury. He would have liked to come in 100% fit but that's not always possible. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Brian Scott!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Fet Bard!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Frank Dennis and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Scott throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Bard lands a nice looking body kick.

Scott shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Scott showed some decent athleticism there.
Scott working over Bard with some ground and pound. Bard looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.

Scott decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
Scott looks to land a combination. Bard sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.

Scott closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Scott lands in his opponent's guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Bard controls Scott momentarily but Scott frees himself.

The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Scott wants to control from the top but Bard keeps moving.
Scott tries to stand but Bard is controlling from the bottom.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Bard pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Bard misses with a double jab
letting Scott counter with a right hand.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Scott throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Scott will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Scott connects with a body shot.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Bard lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Scott has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Scott and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

Scott lands a slapping body shot.
Bard ducks under a wild hook from Scott.

Scott dips to his left and cracks Bard with an uppercut!
Scott misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Bard.
Scott fails with a takedown attempt.
Scott tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Bard was well out of range. Poor timing from Scott.

Scott looks to score with a jab to the body but Bard is just out of range.
Scott checks a leg kick.
Scott misses with a looping right.
Bard throws a head kick that misses.
Scott shoots in for a double leg but Bard sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Brian Scott. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Bard misses with a body shot.
Scott misses with a series of wild punches.
Bard throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

and Bard counters with an inside leg kick.
Scott lands a jab to the nose.
Scott has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Bard walks into a left hand.

Nice defenses there by Scott.
Bard lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.

Scott is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Bard's half guard.

Bard is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Scott pulls his head out easily.
Scott thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Bard moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Scott has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Bard is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Scott distracts Bard with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Bard pulls Scott in close to prevent any damage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Brian Scott dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.



Scott changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Bard looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Scott tries for a kimura but Bard is defending well.
Scott in side control lands a decent elbow.
Bard gets back to half guard.
Bard wants to control but Scott is keeping busy.
Bard is trying to stand up here but Scott is controlling him well.
Ground and pound from Scott.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Scott has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Scott with the ground and pound from mount.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
BOOM! Scott connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Bard really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Bard bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!

Bard drops back looking for a leg! Scott is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Scott manages to kick Bard off! Bard jumps back into Scott's guard.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Scott keeping moving, preventing Bard from controlling successfully.
Bard pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Scott is keeping the position for now.

Bard stands and steps away. Scott gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Bard takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Bard pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Bard throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Bard lands with a kick to the temple. Scott shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
A low kick from Scott is predictable there
and Bard counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Scott is lucky that one didn't land flush.

Scott looks to score with a jab to the body but Bard is just out of range.
Scott shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Bard counters with a thumping low kick.
Bard throws a hook to the side of Scott's head but Scott sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

and Scott counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Scott.
Bard looking for a sweep. Not yet Bard, not yet.
Scott in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

Bard is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Scott connects with a couple of short punches.
Bard pulls Scott in close to prevent any damage.
Scott postures up in Bard's guard and throws a big left but Bard blocks it.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Bard is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Bard uses his free foot to push down on Scott's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Scott.

Bard scores with a couple of good head shots there.
Scott is squirming around, avoiding Bard's attempts to control the action.
Scott keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Brian Scott will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!


Bard takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Scott is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.

Scott drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Scott is working Bard over with some ground and pound from side control.
The ground and pound from Scott seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
Bard tries to bench press Scott off him but Scott keeps the position.
Scott grinds an elbow into Bard's temple.
Scott connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Bard some visible discomfort.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Scott lands a few punches from side control.
Scott landing a few strikes.
The strikes coming from Scott are missing the target in this wave of attacks.

Scott tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.
Scott looking to control but instead Bard has slipped a leg in, to regain half guard.
Bard slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.

Scott won't allow Bard to get back to his feet.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Bard pulls Scott in close to his closed guard and prevents Scott from doing any damage or advancing position.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Scott accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Bard.
Bard misses with a jab to the body
and Scott counters with a nice body shot.
Bard gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Scott counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Brian Scott seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Scott lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Bard at a distance.
Scott bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Bard's head backwards.

Scott swings for the body but Bard moves out of range.
Scott's corner calls for a 1-2. Scott obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Bard moves into range and lands a nice body kick.
Bard throws out a loose jab but Scott uses good head movement to avoid it.
Scott fails to land the takedown.
Bard lands with a kick to the ribs.
Bard scores with a body shot.
Bard fails in his attempt to clinch.
Bard lands a head kick. Scott smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
Scott scores with the left hand. Bard knows he should have avoided that one.
Bard throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Bard tries to clinch up but Scott circles away and keeps his distance.
Fet Bard is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Bard misses with a jab to the body
and Scott counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Bard connects with a high kick.
Scott misses with a double jab
and Bard counters with a three punch combo that has Scott backing up. Scott nods at Bard to acknowledge the strikes.
Fet Bard has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Scott dives in and grabs Bard's left leg, looking for a takedown. Bard pushes down on Scott's head and hops out.
Bard lands with a kick to the temple. Scott shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
Bard thows a body shot but no joy.
Scott uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Bard.
Bard misses with a series of wild punches.
Scott swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Bard throws a leg kick but Scott sees it coming and checks it nicely.

And that's the end of the fight!
Brian Scott showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Scott has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3 rounds of action, we go to the scorecards for a decision.
