Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Trond Pedersveen! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Anderson Silva! The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Alexandre Firmino and Leandro Rodrigues.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Silva scores with a takedown into Pedersveen's guard. Pedersveen is controlling Silva's posture. Silva drops back looking for a leg! Pedersveen is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Pedersveen manages to kick Silva off! Silva jumps back into Pedersveen's guard. Silva won't allow Pedersveen to sweep him here. Pedersveen is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Pedersveen has momentary wrist control but Silva slips an elbow through the middle. Pedersveen looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Silva stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Pedersveen swivels though and keeps the full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Pedersveen keeping moving, preventing Silva from controlling successfully. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Pedersveen is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Pedersveen is breathing heavily. Silva trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Silva misses with a double jab.
Silva clinches with his opponent.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Pedersveen tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Silva just stands there and leans against the cage. Pedersveen tries to stall but Silva uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
Silva has hold of one of Pedersveen's legs. Pedersveen is fighting the takedown attempt but Silva gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Silva tries to free his leg and advance position but Pedersveen is retaining full guard. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Silva's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Silva wants to control from the top but Pedersveen keeps moving. Silva stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Pedersveen swivels though and keeps the full guard. Pedersveen is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Pedersveen has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Silva doesn't defend quickly enough and Pedersveen has managed to lock this one up! Can Silva escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Pedersveen on a fantastic submission victory.
