PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Yrjo Puska (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mohandes Ghandi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Puska comes to the cage accompanied by GWB -rap. Ghandi comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Am I Demon kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Yrjo Puska!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Mohandes Ghandi!
The judges for this bout are Ben Zyskovitsi, Matti Vanhoillinen and Arvi Lind.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ghandi is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Puska keeps the fight on the outside.
Puska misses the shot to the body.

Puska shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Puska was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Puska controlling the position easily from mount.
Puska avoids the attempt from Ghandi to control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Ghandi is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.
Ghandi wants to improve position but instead he's given up his back.

Puska controls the position.
Ghandi tries to roll but Puska sticks to his back.

Ghandi is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.
Ghandi tries to escape but Puska has the hooks in and won't let him break free.
Puska just keeping the dominant position. He can't wait too long though, otherwise the referee will stand them back up.
Puska is not going to allow Ghandi to sit and survive in this position.
Ghandi is trying to get back to his feet but Puska has full control of the position and if anything, Ghandi has just worked his way into a worse spot.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Puska has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Ghandi has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
Ghandi turns into Puska and is now in his guard.

Puska tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Puska lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Ghandi!

Puska wants to finish this one by submission but Ghandi is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Puska.

Puska is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Ghandi has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Ghandi regains half guard.

Puska is looking for a kimura but Ghandi is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Puska to get the leverage.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Ghandi can do anything to dispel that myth.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Puska is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Ghandi defends it well.

Puska looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Ghandi is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Puska's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Puska's back!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Puska throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Ghandi is looking to clinch.

Puska feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Puska is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Ghandi knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Ghandi tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Puska goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Ghandi rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Puska's guard! Nice work there by Ghandi!

Ghandi got a little sloppy there for a moment and Puska has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Ghandi has managed to get both his arms back between Puska's legs - danger averted.

Puska wants to sweep here but Ghandi controlling him for the moment.
Puska manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Ghandi manages to get himself to full guard.

Puska is looking to advance position but Ghandi has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!
Ghandi trying to control but Puska is having none of it.
Ghandi is landing with some decent strikes but Puska is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

Ghandi has control of Puska's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Puska regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Puska is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Puska is desperately trying to improve his position but Ghandi has a good base and remains in mount.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Ghandi is giving the impression that he's looking to ground and pound but he switches suddenly into a beautiful far side armbar! Puska is forced to tap! Great finish!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:25 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Mohandes Ghandi!
