PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Isaac Walsh (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Conrad Howell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Conrad Howell will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Isaac Walsh!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Conrad Howell!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Tiny Johnson and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Walsh takes the fight into the clinch.
Walsh can't get the takedown.
Howell missing with knees to the body.
Howell misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Walsh.
Howell blocks an uppercut.
Walsh on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.

Walsh goes for a takedown attempt but Howell pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Walsh shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Howell as he jumps to the side.

Walsh works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.

Howell pushes Walsh away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Walsh gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Walsh is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Howell is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Walsh is breathing heavily.

Walsh tries to move to mount but Howell blocks the move with his legs.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Howell shoots in and drives through. Walsh sprawls well.
Howell wants to clinch but Walsh slips to the side
and Walsh counters with a low kick, right behind Howell 's knee.

Walsh fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

and Walsh counters with a series of strikes. Howell will be more careful next time no doubt.

Walsh tries to pass the half guard into mount. Howell knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Walsh will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Walsh is working for a kimura but Howell is defending it quite comfortably.

Howell kicks off Walsh and gets to his feet.
Howell closes the distance but Walsh moves to the side

so Walsh counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for leaving it all in the cage!
Walsh trying to control the position from guard on top but Howell is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Walsh won't allow Howell to get back to his feet.

Walsh stands up from Howell's guard - Walsh perhaps looking for a knockout.

and Walsh counters with a nice double leg into side control. Howell won't be happy with that.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Howell keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
A bone on bone clash there as Howell blocks the leg kick.
Walsh throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
Walsh misses with a wild body shot.
Howell is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Walsh tries to clinch there but Howell circles away.

Walsh changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Howell looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Walsh wants to lay and pray for a moment but Howell keeps working.

Howell parries the strikes from Walsh easily there. Walsh is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Howell to escape.

Howell is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Walsh asserts his dominance and retains side control.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Walsh tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Walsh has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Howell is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Walsh has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Walsh really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Walsh wants to lay and pray for a moment but Howell keeps working.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Walsh, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
