Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Steve Satriani!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Antonio James!
The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Mauricio Rocha and Alexandre Firmino.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Satriani tries to score a power double leg takedown but James sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Satriani somewhat.
Satriani looks for a takedown but James sprawls well.
Satriani shoots in and drives through. James sprawls well.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Steve Satriani. That's going to take a lot out of him.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Satriani is defended easily by James.
James looks to land a combination but Satriani avoids it well.
Satriani fails with the takedown.
Satriani throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around James's waist but James gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Satriani off to one side.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Satriani scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.

James is defending against the submission attempts here by Satriani.

Satriani is looking for a kimura. It's pretty deep but James still has the half guard so he's probably OK. Oh, James has exploded into a beautiful escape there and after a quick scramble, he's ended up in side control on top! Nice work!

Satriani is looking to get back to his feet here but James is keeping cool and he's managed to take Satriani's back.
Satriani manages to reverse the position and now he's in James's guard. Nice work there by Satriani.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Satriani wants to stand but James is controlling his posture from full guard.

Satriani drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but James manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Satriani has James in his guard.

Satriani is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. James is aware though and is defending well.

Satriani looking for submissions from the bottom but instead James passes into half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Satriani is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but James pulls his head out easily.

Satriani looking for subs from the bottom but James mounts him!

James stands up from mount. Strange move.
James leaves Satriani with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Satriani fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but James avoids it really well and circles away.
Steve Satriani seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Satriani is breathing heavily.
James swings and misses with a hook to the body.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
James throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
James displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Satriani.
Satriani throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around James's waist but James gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Satriani off to one side.
Satriani fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
James lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.


It looks like Steve Satriani has been cut.
Satriani misses with a takedown attempt - James sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
James throws a head kick that misses.

James drops Satriani with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Satriani looks back up at him and smiles so James waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Antonio James dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Steve Satriani's cut.
That's time! Satriani's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Satriani shoots in for a double leg but James sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.


Satriani is rocked!
Satriani looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
James misses with a jab, cross combination.
James lands with a jab that stuns his opponent. Satriani is looking to close the distance but James sees it coming and throws a beautiful knee! Satriani crumbles to the mat and that's all she wrote! Let's hope Satriani is OK because that was naaaaaasty!
