Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Bruce Darnell! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Dan Henderson! The judges for this bout are Igor Prikhodko, Vladimir Khabensky and Ivan Kurochkin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Darnell punishes Henderson's body with a nice straight punch. Darnell looks to land a combination but Henderson avoids it well. Henderson misses with a looping right. Darnell throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Henderson avoids the head kick by Darnell.
A nice combination there by Darnell.
Nice defenses there by Henderson. Darnell takes one on the chin but keeps coming.

Henderson scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Darnell trying to hold on to Henderson's head to control him but Henderson postures up.
Henderson wants to lay and pray for a moment but Darnell keeps working. Henderson looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Darnell with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Darnell is looking for a sweep. Henderson is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Darnell looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Henderson sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Darnell defending well though.
That's one minute gone in the round. Henderson trying to pass the guard but Darnell defending well. Darnell regains full guard. Nicely done. Henderson really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Darnell. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Darnell is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Darnell is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Henderson defends well. Henderson is looking to work some ground and pound but Darnell has wrist control. Henderson loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Henderson got a little sloppy there for a moment and Darnell has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Henderson has managed to get both his arms back between Darnell's legs - danger averted. Henderson makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. Henderson postures up and lands some nice ground and pound. Darnell is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Henderson has his hands clasped together but Darnell extends an breaks Henderson's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Darnell.
