2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jah Herbs! The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Edson Gomes and Luis Engracia.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Williams drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Williams tries to free his leg and advance position but Herbs is retaining full guard. Williams stopping the sweep attempt from Herbs. Herbs is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Williams pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Herbs is keeping the position for now. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Herbs can do anything to dispel that myth. Williams is breathing heavily. Herbs is looking to escape.

Herbs really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Williams. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Herbs tries to get to full guard but Williams has control of the leg. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Williams uses his free foot to push down on Herbs's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Herbs. Herbs has given up his back.
Williams is not going to allow Herbs to sit and survive in this position. Herbs controlling the position well but he knows he's in a bad position. Williams working for a choke but Herbs is defending well. Herbs is trying to get back to his feet but Williams has full control of the position and if anything, Herbs has just worked his way into a worse spot.

Herbs is in a bad position with Williams working for a choke. Herbs manages to spin nicely into guard and the danger is over for the moment. Williams gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Williams is trying to get back to full guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fight stays on the outside here - Herbs looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Herbs moves into range and clinches up with Williams. Herbs prevents the takedown attempt.

Williams fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Herbs sprawls well initially but Williams persists and gets the takedown into half guard. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Herbs is trying to get back to full guard. Williams tries to pass the half guard into mount. Herbs knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Williams looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Herbs tries to close the distance and clinch up but Williams swats him away and circles back towards the center. Williams fails to land the takedown. Herbs throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
Excellent takedown into side control there by Williams. Herbs is trying to buck Williams off. Williams swings around for an armbar but Herbs sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Williams's guard. Danny Williams overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Williams looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Herbs is trying to escape and Williams transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Herbs is forced to tap! Nice work there by Williams! Very nice indeed!
