Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Marco Ruas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marc Tong Panong (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Ruas might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Megadeth - Symphony of Destruction. Tong Panong has chosen Tetris Song (remix) as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Marc Tong Panong has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Marco Ruas's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
9 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Marco Ruas! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Marc Tong Panong! The judges for this bout are Yasuomi Hirokawa, Yukihiro Shimada and Ren Mimura.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nice sprawl there from Ruas as Tong Panong shoots in. Tong Panong closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Tong Panong lands in his opponent's guard. Tong Panong must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Tong Panong wants to stand but Ruas is controlling his posture from full guard. Tong Panong trying to control the position from guard on top but Ruas is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. Ruas wants to sweep here but Tong Panong controlling him for the moment. Ruas working for a triangle but Tong Panong defends it easily.

Tong Panong works his way back into a safe position though. Tong Panong postures up in Ruas's guard and throws a big left but Ruas blocks it. Tong Panong is looking to work some ground and pound but Ruas has wrist control. Tong Panong stopping the sweep attempt from Ruas. Tong Panong throws a big right hand that misses. Tong Panong has gone for a leg lock! Ruas slips out almost immediately though and dives into Tong Panong's guard. Ruas trying to control but Tong Panong is working from the bottom.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. A telegraphed right hand from Ruas misses the target. Ruas circles away from the clinch attempt.
Ruas looks to throw the jab but Tong Panong is out of range. Tong Panong is trying hard to land a takedown here. Ruas sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Tong Panong staying out of range there. Tong Panong fails to land the takedown. Marco Ruas has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Marc Tong Panong. Tong Panong shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Tong Panong showed some decent athleticism there. Ruas is looking for a sweep. Tong Panong is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Tong Panong missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Ruas wants to improve his position but Tong Panong is controlling well.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Ruas is pressing down on Tong Panong's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Tong Panong connects with a couple of short punches. Ruas is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Tong Panong wants to get back to full guard. Tong Panong looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Tong Panong avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Ruas. Tong Panong tries to roll over but Ruas keeps him under control. Ruas sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Tong Panong defending well though. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Marco Ruas will probably get the nod. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Tong Panong uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Ruas. Tong Panong ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Tong Panong staying out of range there. Tong Panong tries to close the distance and clinch up but Ruas swats him away and circles back towards the center. Tong Panong clinches up against the ropes. Tong Panong goes for a takedown attempt but Ruas pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Marco Ruas seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Tong Panong changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Ruas looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Tong Panong looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Ruas is avoiding damage well.

That's one minute gone in the round. Tong Panong stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being. Tong Panong pushes Ruas up against the ropes in a clinch. Tong Panong keeps control of Ruas as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks. Tong Panong turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control! Tong Panong decides to take the fight back to the feet. Ruas keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Ruas just misses with a punch to the body.
Tong Panong closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ruas is looking for a sweep. Tong Panong is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Tong Panong thows a huge punch but Ruas dodges it nicely.
Tong Panong wants to take a breather but Ruas is having none of it. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Tong Panong thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Tong Panong throwing shots but Ruas is blocking nicely. Tong Panong thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Tong Panong is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Ruas doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Tong Panong. Tong Panong is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Ruas misses with a wild combination.
Ruas loads up on a big right hand but Tong Panong slips the punch. Ruas looks to throw the jab but Tong Panong is out of range. Tong Panong shoots in looking for a takedown. Ruas tries to sprawl out of it but Tong Panong keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the ropes. Ruas manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Marco Ruas has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Marc Tong Panong. Tong Panong instigates a clinch. Ruas is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the ropes. Tong Panong is trying to drag Ruas to the mat but Ruas just about manages to keep his footing. He used the ropes to his advantage there. Tong Panong wants a takedown.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Tong Panong lands a takedown into guard.
Ruas avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Ruas lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Tong Panong! Tong Panong is desperately trying to improve his position but Ruas has a good base and remains in mount. Ruas is in the full mount, landing strikes. Tong Panong is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Ruas landing strikes from the mount and Tong Panong is in trouble! Tong Panong tries to hold on but Ruas postures up. Ruas working away from the top, dropping strikes. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Marc Tong Panong showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

A telegraphed takedown attempt from Tong Panong is defended easily by Ruas. Tong Panong tries to clinch but Ruas moves out of range. Tong Panong fails to land the takedown. Ruas tries to bum rush Tong Panong with a series of wild strikes but Tong Panong uses good footwork to avoid the assault. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Tong Panong forces Ruas back against the ropes and clinches. A shot in the inside from Tong Panong. Ruas looking for a takedown. Tong Panong tries to land knees in the clinch but Ruas avoids the damage to the body. Tong Panong jumps into guard, dragging Ruas to the mat.

Tong Panong takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Tong Panong looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Ruas trying to control the position from guard on top but Tong Panong is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Tong Panong is trying to keep Ruas in close.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Ruas misses with a looping right. Tong Panong walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Ruas throws a hook to the side of Tong Panong's head but Tong Panong sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Tong Panong moves away from the strike by Ruas. Ruas throws out a loose jab but Tong Panong uses good head movement to avoid it. Ruas misses with an uppercut. Ruas takes a swing at Tong Panong's ribcage but misses. Tong Panong will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Marco Ruas has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Marc Tong Panong. Ruas tries to bum rush Tong Panong with a series of wild strikes but Tong Panong uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Tong Panong shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Tong Panong showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Ruas.
Tong Panong scores a takedown into full mount! The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Tong Panong cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Tong Panong wants to control the action but instead Ruas gets a body lock and reverses into Tong Panong's guard! Nice work! Ruas postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Ruas pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Tong Panong is keeping the position for now. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Tong Panong is on top in guard.
