Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Matthew Davis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gram Mahone (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mahone has chosen 300 Violin Orchestra as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Matthew Davis had real problems making weight for this fight. After initially coming in at 186.5lbs, he had two hours to make the official fight weight. He made it but it will have taken a lot out of him to cut those extra few pounds. Gram Mahone is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Matthew Davis! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Gram Mahone! The judges for this bout are , Frank Antenori and Timothy Bukovac.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mahone fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Davis sprawls well initially but Mahone persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Davis is trying to stand.
Davis gets back to full guard.
Mahone must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Davis bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Mahone's guard. Davis sitting in guard here, content to control. Mahone wants to stand and escape but Davis is having none of it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mahone is looking to stand back up but Davis counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Mahone. Davis prevents Mahone from standing back up.
Davis content to control rather than advance. Mahone looks like he's trying to stand up.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Davis decides to stand and escape the position. Mahone looks gassed! Mahone stuffs the takedown attempt from Davis. Davis gets slowly back to his feet. Davis closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Mahone is trying to buck Davis off. Davis just content to control the position. Mahone pushes Davis away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Davis gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Davis controls the position. Davis moves into full mount! Davis looking to control and managing it successfully. Mahone is trying to stand up. Davis sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
The referee stands the fighters back up. Matthew Davis just wasn't active enough from the dominant position. Davis throws a combination. Mahone tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
It looks like Gram Mahone has been cut. Davis fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done. Davis jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Davis scores with a one two! Mahone had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes. Davis punishes Mahone's body with a nice straight punch. Mahone shoots in for a takedown but Davis shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Mahone tries to clinch there but Davis circles away.
Mahone tries to clinch up. Davis scores with a crisp jab that stopped Mahone in his tracks. Mahone takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it. Davis gets in close and instigates a clinch. Stalling in the clinch from Davis.
Mahone throws an elbow but it misses.
Davis has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate. Davis scores with a hook to the body. Davis gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Davis wants to control from the top but Mahone keeps moving. Davis prevents Mahone from getting back to his feet. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Matthew Davis dominated that round. The cut man is working on Gram Mahone's cut. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Mahone tries to clinch up and Davis counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Davis. Davis managing to block the knees to the body from Mahone.
Mahone can't find room to land a body shot as Davis controls the action.
Mahone letting Davis take a breather here. Mahone lands with a short head shot on the inside. Davis lands a shot to the body. A frustrated look appears on Davis's face as he tries to break the clinch. Mahone struggles to land a body shot inside as Davis controls his hands.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Mahone closes the distance but Davis moves to the side and Davis counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Mahone! Davis controlling from the full mount. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Matthew Davis overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Davis dominating with strikes here. Mahone takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Davis controlling his opponent. Mahone is really trying hard to get back to his feet.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Matthew Davis just wasn't active enough from the dominant position. Mahone tries to clinch but fails miserably and Davis cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Mahone closes the distance looking to clinch and Davis counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Davis.

Mahone being controlled against the cage. Davis jumps guard and drags Mahone to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back. Davis lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Mahone! Davis content just to control the position here. Mahone is trying to get back to his feet but can't. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Davis takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Davis wants to control the pace but Mahone is squirming around nicely. Davis won't let Mahone get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mahone wants to clinch and Davis counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Mahone's guard now. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Davis stays in close to Mahone's body and controls the position. Davis stops Mahone from standing up. Davis stands up from Mahone's guard - Davis perhaps looking for a knockout. Mahone shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Davis pinned against the cage. Davis gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Mahone takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket. Mahone stuffs the takedown attempt from Davis. Davis gets slowly back to his feet. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Davis circles away from the clinch attempt and Davis counters with a stiff right hand.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mahone tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Davis paws at him with a jab and circles away. Nice body punch from Davis. Mahone gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there. Mahone is looking to clinch but Davis is avoiding it.
Davis misses with a takedown attempt - Mahone sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. No luck for Mahone with that takedown attempt. Davis lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook. Davis throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Davis is looking to wear down Mahone with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment. Davis keeps the fight on the outside. Davis feints and as Mahone raises his hands in defense, Davis changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Mahone can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Davis controls the pace.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Mahone is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Davis slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Mahone wants to stand and escape but Davis is having none of it. Davis is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Mahone is looking to stand up but Davis isn't so interested in that idea. Davis controls from within his opponent's guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Davis has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. Davis thows a big elbow that misses. Mahone is wriggling around but Davis manages to pass to half guard.
Davis decides to stand and escape the position. Mahone throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Davis decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Davis controlling the pace.
The referee stands the fighters back up. Matthew Davis just wasn't active enough from the dominant position. Mahone throws a front kick aimed at Davis's knee but Davis avoids it well. Matthew Davis is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Davis connects with a body shot. Mahone gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Davis drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Davis slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Mahone is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here. Gram Mahone has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Davis just content to control the position.
And that's the end of the fight! Matthew Davis showed his dominance in that final round. Well Davis has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
