The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alves gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Alves lands an elbow just above Barbarian 's eye.
Alves comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.

Barbarian takes an elbow to the temple.

Alves is looking to control Barbarian's arms but Barbarian gets an underhook and turns him. Now Alves has his back to the cage.

Barbarian goes for a takedown attempt but Alves pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Alves buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Thiago Alves seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Barbarian chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Alves can pounce on him.
Barbarian seems to have got his legs back now.
The fight moves into the clinch position.
Alves creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Barbarian's defenses.
Alves comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.
Barbarian wants a takedown.
Alves lands an elbow that stopped Barbarian in his tracks for a moment.
Barbarian is pressed against the cage. Alves pushes back and unleashes a big elbow that really hurts Barbarian! Two more big strikes from Alves and Barbarian crumples to the mat and taps out furiously due to the strikes!
