Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Sean Gratton! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Lenny Lennyville! The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, William Peck and Ian Loll.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gratton tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Lennyville swivels and escapes. Lennyville fails in his attempt to clinch. Lennyville tries to keep at a distance but Gratton has taken the fight into the clinch. Gratton breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Gratton will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Lennyville closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Lennyville lands in his opponent's guard. Gratton is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Lennyville is controlling him. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Gratton escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Lennyville gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Lennyville wants to control from the top but Gratton keeps moving.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gratton is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Lennyville is controlling him. Lennyville trying to control but Gratton is working from the bottom. Lennyville stops Gratton from standing up.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Lennyville scores with the left hand. Gratton knows he should have avoided that one. Gratton is breathing heavily.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Gratton shoots in but doesn't get the takedown so Lennyville counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Sean Gratton. That's going to take a lot out of him. Lennyville postures up in Gratton's guard and throws a big left but Gratton blocks it. Lennyville trying to control the position from guard on top but Gratton is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Lennyville tries to free his leg and advance position but Gratton is retaining full guard. Gratton keeping moving, preventing Lennyville from controlling successfully. Lennyville decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Gratton, up you get!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Lennyville misses with a two punch combination.
Lennyville closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Lennyville lands in his opponent's guard. Gratton is looking to stand up but Lennyville isn't so interested in that idea. Lennyville trying to control the position from guard on top but Gratton is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Lennyville really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Gratton. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Lennyville pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Gratton is keeping the position for now.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Gratton is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Lennyville is controlling him. Gratton is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Gratton keeping full guard, as Lennyville tries to pass. Lennyville postures up and lands a big shot to Gratton's brow. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Lenny Lennyville dominated that round. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!
Lennyville lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook. Gratton with a lazy takedown attempt and Lennyville counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Lennyville. Lennyville slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Lennyville throwing strikes but missing. Gratton has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Lennyville off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds. Lennyville tries to clinch but fails miserably and Gratton counters with a nice double leg into half guard. This has been an exciting period of action! Gratton thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Lennyville moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Gratton is sitting in close to Lennyville's body. Lennyville has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Gratton is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Gratton is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Lennyville.
