PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Pasha Dasari (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Heikki Ramires (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dasari comes into the arena with Stinkfist blaring out of the sound system. Ramires has chosen Dropkick Murphys - The Gauntlet as his entrance music. Heikki Ramires acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the featherweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Pasha Dasari!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Heikki Ramires!
The judges for this bout are Emerson Jorge, Felipe Paraventi and Luis Engracia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dasari tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Dasari forces Ramires back against the cage and clinches.
Ramires blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Dasari misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Dasari creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Ramires's defenses.

Dasari ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Dasari no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Ramires is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Ramires trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Ramires trying to control but Dasari is working from the bottom.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Ramires wants to pass the guard but Dasari is keeping the position.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Dasari is on top in guard.

Ramires is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Dasari drops back, looking for a kneebar! Ramires looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Ramires looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Ramires!

Dasari has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Ramires is working away from the top position though.
Dasari manages to get to full guard.
Ramires stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Dasari swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Ramires forces his way into half guard.
Ramires works his way into full mount!

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Dasari is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

Ramires jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Dasari manages to avoid the submission attempt.
Dasari wants to control but Ramires postures up.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

That was a close round but I would say that Pasha Dasari will probably get the nod.

Ramires ducks under a wild hook from Dasari.
Donk. Dasari catches Ramires right on the button with a cross.
Ramires blocks a head kick by Dasari.
Dasari misses with an uppercut. Ramires saw that one coming.
Dasari lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Ramires circles away quickly and effectively.
Dasari misses with a hook. Ramires ducked under it nicely.
Pasha Dasari is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Ramires scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Ramires wants to control but Dasari is keeping him busy.
Dasari is trying to get back to half guard.

Dasari regains half guard.
Ramires is trying to control the action in half guard but Dasari is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Dasari tries to roll over but Ramires keeps him under control.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Dasari shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Ramires is trying to defend but Dasari finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Ramires is looking for a sweep. Dasari is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Dasari is just content to waste time from the top position. Ramires takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Ramires shoots in and drives through. Dasari sprawls well.

Ramires decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Dasari tries to roll over but Ramires keeps him under control.
Ramires is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

Ramires seems to be working for a kimura but Dasari defends the submission attempt.

Ramires is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Ramires tries to pass the half guard into mount. Dasari knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Dasari looks to land a combination but Ramires avoids it well.

Ramires tries to close the distance and clinch up but Dasari swats him away and circles back towards the center.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. And we move into the final round!

Dasari cracks Ramires with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Ramires holds on and takes a little breather.
Ramires is wobbling all over the place through exhaustion. Will he make it to the final bell?
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Dasari's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Dasari tries to free his leg and advance position but Ramires is retaining full guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Dasari accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Dasari won't allow Ramires to sweep him here.

Dasari gets to his feet. Ramires looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Dasari has taken the fight to the clinch.
Ramires on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.

Dasari pulls Ramires into guard.

Ramires advances to half guard.
Ramires is stalling here. Dasari is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Ramires seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Dasari has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

Dasari tries for a kimura but Ramires is defending well.

Dasari goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Ramires rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Dasari's guard! Nice work there by Ramires!

Dasari scrambles and gets back to his feet.

Dasari manages to get to full guard.
Ramires stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Dasari swivels though and keeps the full guard.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Pasha Dasari.
I think Dasari has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
