Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Greg Swindell! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Al Bumin! The judges for this bout are , and .
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Swindell throws a hook to the side of Bumin's head but Bumin sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Swindell shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Bumin as he jumps to the side. Bumin is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Swindell. Bumin showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Swindell.
Swindell loads up on a big right hand but Bumin slips the punch. Bumin tries to clinch but Swindell is having none of it. Swindell throws a right hand that Bumin ducks under and follows up with a left that Bumin also avoids with ease. Swindell dives in and grabs Bumin's left leg, looking for a takedown. Bumin pushes down on Swindell's head and hops out. Swindell misses with a two punch combination.
Swindell comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range. Swindell misses with a looping left. Greg Swindell seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Swindell misses with a straight left. Bumin takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it. Swindell throws a shot from downtown. Bumin moves away and avoids it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Swindell lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Swindell. Swindell looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Bumin is fending him off so far but Swindell persists. Nope, Bumin circles away and we're back to standing. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Greg Swindell. That's going to take a lot out of him. A swing and a miss from Swindell. Bumin is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Bumin shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Bumin was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Bumin controlling the pace for now. Swindell tries to get back to half guard but can't.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Bumin wants to control the action but instead Swindell gets a body lock and reverses into Bumin's guard! Nice work!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Swindell trying to stand up but can't free himself from Bumin's guard. Bumin keeping full guard, as Swindell tries to pass. Swindell has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Bumin is proving hard to escape from. Swindell preventing the sweep. Swindell wants to stand but Bumin has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. A jab from Swindell misses.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Bumin plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!
It looks like Greg Swindell has been cut. Swindell misses with a looping right. Bumin looks for a takedown but Swindell sprawls well. Swindell lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Bumin circles away quickly and effectively. Bumin drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Bumin wants to stand but Swindell is controlling his arm. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Al Bumin will probably get the nod. The cut man is working on Greg Swindell's cut. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!
Swindell connects with a body shot. Swindell throws a series of punches but Bumin moves out of range. Swindell has his takedown stuffed and Bumin counters with a takedown into side control. Bumin wants to stand but Swindell has his arm trapped. Swindell is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Bumin asserts his dominance and retains side control.
That's one minute gone in the round. Bumin wants to lay and pray for a moment but Swindell keeps working.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Swindell manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Swindell is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Bumin is defending against the submission attempts here by Swindell.
Bumin wants to improve his position but Swindell is controlling well.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Swindell thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Bumin's head. Swindell stands up out of the half guard. Bumin decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Swindell pushes Bumin off and gets back to his feet. Swindell fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Swindell misses with a double jab
and Bumin counters with a two punch combo. Horrible takedown by Bumin or perhaps it was just good defense by Swindell which made him look bad. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Al Bumin showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The cut man is working on Greg Swindell's cut. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!
Swindell lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.

so Bumin counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Bumin wants to stand but Swindell has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Bumin wants to control from the top but Swindell keeps moving. The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
That's one minute gone in the round. Swindell looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Bumin has picked Swindell up and slammed him! Swindell can't keep hold of the triangle and Bumin manages to pass to side control! Swindell is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Bumin wants to stand but Swindell has him controlled and pulls him back into his guard. Bumin trying to control but Swindell is working from the bottom.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Swindell looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Swindell looking for a guillotine here but Bumin defends easily.
Bumin is looking to stand up but Swindell won't let him.
And that's the end of the fight! Al Bumin comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I've got Bumin winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
