Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Nathan Purcell!
The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, Columbo Gatti and Chad Campbell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Petrov shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Purcell as he jumps to the side.
Petrov fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Purcell shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Purcell was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Petrov tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Purcell sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Petrov tries to hold on but Purcell postures up.

Petrov is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Purcell jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Petrov manages to avoid the submission attempt.
Purcell is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
Petrov is looking for a sweep.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Petrov looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Petrov thows a big elbow that misses, also allowing Purcell to regain full guard.

Purcell wants to control the position but Petrov says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.
Petrov throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Purcell controlling the position well.
Petrov is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Purcell defends it well.
Petrov trying to control the action but Purcell is working from the bottom.
Purcell is controlling Petrov's position as best he can from this difficult position.

Petrov wants to take a breather but Purcell is having none of it.

Purcell wants to control but Petrov is keeping busy.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

and Purcell counters with a nice double leg into half guard.

Purcell is trying to control the action in half guard but Petrov is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Petrov has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Purcell wants to pass to mount but Petrov is defending the position.

Purcell seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Petrov does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Petrov closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Petrov lands in his opponent's guard.
Purcell wants to stand up but Petrov is controlling him.
Petrov postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Petrov postures up and lands a big shot to Purcell's brow.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Nathan Purcell will probably get the nod.
That's time! Petrov's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Petrov misses with a takedown
and Purcell counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Purcell.
Purcell wants to control from the top but Petrov keeps moving.
Purcell's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Purcell postures up in Petrov's guard and throws a big left but Petrov blocks it.
Purcell has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Petrov to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Purcell is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Petrov pulls down on the head and he's put Purcell to sleep! This one is all over!
