Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of

0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Billy MacKay! The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Robert Twigg and Wesley Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Some wild striking there from MacKay.
Mason tries to clinch but MacKay is having none of it. A bone on bone clash there as Mason blocks the leg kick.
Mason moves out of range of the leg kick from MacKay. Mason wants to clinch. MacKay fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
MacKay throws a right and a left that both miss. MacKay circles away from the clinch attempt.
Mason lands with a kick to the temple. MacKay shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
It looks like Billy MacKay has been cut. MacKay throws a leg kick but Mason sees it coming and checks it nicely. Mason lets loose with a powerful body kick. MacKay will feel that in the morning. MacKay lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! MacKay misses with a double jab.

Mason lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw. Mason wants to clinch. MacKay fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Mason manages to avoid it.

MacKay wants to stand but Mason has a closed guard, so he can't escape. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Mason has his feet on MacKay's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work. MacKay takes a kick to the side of the head. A swing and a miss from Mason. Mason dodges the punch combination from MacKay.
The fighters circle momentarily. Mason darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch. Mason keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.

Mason is pulling down on MacKay's head. It's preventing any offense from MacKay, at least for the moment. Mason has a closed guard, preventing MacKay from standing up. MacKay must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Mason lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for MacKay!
That's three minutes gone in the round. MacKay's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up. Mason dominating with strikes here. Mason fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!

That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Mason punching from mount but MacKay doing a good job of avoiding damage. Mason throwing shots from mount but they're not landing. MacKay is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.

Mason sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it! Mason throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.

Mason is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by MacKay. MacKay throws a series of punches but Mason moves out of range. MacKay takes a kick to the side of the head. MacKay sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs. MacKay clobbers Mason with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise. MacKay misses with a two punch combination.

Nice straight punches there by MacKay. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of MacKay. Mason lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise. MacKay looks to land a combination but Mason avoids it well. Ricky Mason is winning the standup battle so far. Mason explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work. MacKay lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

With the fighters clinched against the cage, Mason creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut. Some stalling of biblical proportions here from Mason. Mason pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage. MacKay has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate. Mason is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath. Mason misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from MacKay.
