Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jon Forte (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Junior Del Rio (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Jon Forte!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Junior Del Rio!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Del Rio tries for a takedown but Forte sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Forte looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!
A telegraphed right hand from Del Rio misses the target.
Del Rio shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Forte pinned against the cage. Forte gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Forte gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Del Rio.


It looks like Jon Forte has been cut.
Del Rio tries to clinch there but Forte circles away.
Forte darts in trying to clinch

and Del Rio counters with a single leg into guard. Forte didn't expect that.

Del Rio thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Del Rio trying to control the position from guard on top but Forte is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Del Rio works a leg free and moves into half guard.

Del Rio wants to work for an arm triangle but Forte is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Del Rio is looking to take a break and control but Forte is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Del Rio is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, Forte has managed to free his arm - good work.

Forte tries to clinch but fails miserably

and Del Rio decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Forte's guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Del Rio might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Forte kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Del Rio wants to control from the top but Forte keeps moving.
Forte knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Del Rio on the ground.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Forte throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Del Rio.
Del Rio shoots in looking for a takedown. Forte tries to sprawl out of it but Del Rio keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Forte manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Jon Forte has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Junior Del Rio.
Del Rio shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Forte but Forte pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Del Rio misses with a body shot.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Del Rio gets caught flat footed, as Forte shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Del Rio has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Forte is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Del Rio.

Forte decides to stand back up.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Forte fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Del Rio, pushing him back against the cage.
A frustrated look appears on Del Rio's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Del Rio tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Forte just stands there and leans against the cage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Junior Del Rio dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Jon Forte's cut.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Forte tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Del Rio paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Junior Del Rio seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Del Rio throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

and Forte counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Forte lands a good knee to the midsection. Del Rio won't want to take too many of those.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Forte wants to clinch up but Del Rio keeps it at a distance.

and Forte moves into the clinch.
Forte tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Del Rio smiles and moves away.
Del Rio fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

and Del Rio counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Del Rio postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Forte is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Del Rio, into his guard.
Forte tries to stand but Del Rio is controlling from the bottom.

Del Rio escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Forte gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Del Rio throws some sloppy strikes off his back.

Forte wants to control from the top but Del Rio keeps moving.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Forte looking to sit in guard and control but Del Rio gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Del Rio accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Forte is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Junior Del Rio showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
