PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Joe Powell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Aaron Alard (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Powell comes to the cage accompanied by Stepping Razor. The key to victory for Joe Powell has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

The judges for this bout are Wagner Zegers, Radbod Blank and Saam Ante.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Powell fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Alard.
No luck for Alard with that takedown attempt.
Powell throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.

Alard avoids a punch combination nicely.
Powell tries to land a front kick but Alard steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Alard shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Powell but Powell pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Joe Powell seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Powell lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Alard takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.

That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Alard crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Powell - the referee stops the clock and Alard gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Powell. Alard manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Powell, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
