Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Lynard Carlson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and The Muts Nutz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 2 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Lynard Carlson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, The Muts Nutz!
The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Alexandre Firmino and Mauricio Rocha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Carlson feints and then cracks Nutz's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Nutz down.
Carlson tries a head kick but it misses.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Carlson, right into the meat.

Carlson shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Carlson showed some decent athleticism there.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Nutz is staying active underneath Carlson, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Carlson in particular looking to stall.
Carlson has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Nutz tries to roll over but Carlson keeps him under control.
Carlson is just content to waste time from the top position. Nutz takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Nutz fails with a takedown attempt.
Nutz lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Carlson circles away quickly and effectively.
Carlson stuffs the takedown attempt from Nutz. Nutz gets slowly back to his feet.
Carlson tries a head kick but it misses.
Lynard Carlson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Carlson rushes Nutz and pushes him back against the ropes in a clinch.
Nutz wants to get back to striking at distance but Carlson won't allow it.
Nutz is trying to break the clinch but Carlson is controlling him.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Nutz tries to pull guard but Carlson holds him up against the ropes and eventually Nutz drops back down to his feet.
Lynard Carlson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of The Muts Nutz.

Carlson escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Nutz tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Carlson closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Nutz to the mat! Nutz manages to get full guard.
Carlson tries to stand but Nutz is controlling from the bottom.
Carlson wants to control from the top but Nutz keeps moving.
Nutz controls Carlson momentarily but Carlson frees himself.
Carlson stays in close to Nutz's body and controls the position.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Carlson wants to get up but he can't break Nutz's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Carlson seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
An inside leg kick from Carlson misses.

Nutz gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Carlson to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Carlson wants to stand and escape but instead Nutz has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
Carlson is looking to stand up but Nutz isn't so interested in that idea.
Carlson utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Nutz makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Nutz throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Carlson works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Carlson knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Nutz on the ground.

Carlson is trying to stand back up but Nutz is controlling him

Carlson bucks up and tries to throw Nutz off but instead Nutz has got his back!
Carlson has the hand control, trying to stop the rear naked choke.

Nutz is not going to allow Carlson to sit and survive in this position.
Nutz is looking to control Carlson but Carlson is wriggling around and keeping busy.

Nutz has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Carlson can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Nutz is working an open guard so Carlson takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

It looks like The Muts Nutz has been cut.

Carlson fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Nutz on the side of the head.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

A solid leg kick lands there for Carlson.

Carlson shoots in looking for a takedown. Nutz tries to sprawl out of it but Carlson keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the ropes. Nutz manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Nutz seems to have recovered his senses.
Carlson pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Nutz moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.

Carlson shoots in and drives through. Nutz sprawls well.

Carlson tries to clinch but Nutz is having none of it.

Carlson shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Nutz sprawls well. Nutz wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Carlson gets slowly back to his feet.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Nutz had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Carlson is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Nutz Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Carlson's back instead.

Nutz is trying to stick to Carlson's back but Carlson is turning into Nutz. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Nutz's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Carlson.

Carlson rolls with it to try and escape but Nutz cranks on the arm and Carlson is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!
