PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Rick Davis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joe Marr (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Marr is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Falls. Joe Marr has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Rick Davis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 7 - 0, fighting out of London, Joe Marr!
The judges for this bout are James Glass, Steven Brown and Colin Fotheringham.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Good exchange - Davis coming out on top.
Marr tries to clinch up but Davis circles away and keeps his distance.
Davis fails with the takedown.
Marr works over Davis's head and body with a nice combination.
Davis throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Marr misses with a head kick.
Marr throws a head kick but Davis moves out of range.

Davis drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Davis postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Davis lands a decent elbow from side control.
Davis looks up at the clock and then as Marr takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Davis smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
You can see the frustration on Marr's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Marr parries the strikes from Davis easily there. Davis is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Marr to escape.
Marr tries to buck Davis off but Davis is having none of it.

Marr takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.
Davis creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Marr sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

Davis looks up at the clock and then as Marr takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Davis smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Davis misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

Marr manages to work his way to half guard, despite Davis's best efforts.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Davis looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Marr with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Marr working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Davis doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Davis manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Davis accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Marr escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Davis gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Marr buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Marr uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Davis.

Davis throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Marr's waist but Marr gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Davis off to one side.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Davis has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Marr avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Davis changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Marr fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Davis throws a hook but Marr avoids it easily.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Davis digs a good hook to Marr's body.

I would just about give that final round to Joe Marr.
