Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Nate Brennan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and David Ekbladh (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ekbladh has chosen My Heart Will Go On as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. The key to victory for Nate Brennan has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ekbladh misses with a wild combination.
Ekbladh looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Ekbladh has decided to stand back up but his arm is trapped. Whilst he's worrying about his arm, Brennan works to full guard. Ekbladh wants to control from the top but Brennan keeps moving. Brennan working a defensive guard here.

Ekbladh tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Ekbladh shoots in and drives through. Brennan sprawls well. Brennan closes this distance looking for a takedown but Ekbladh circles away.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Brennan tries to clinch but Ekbladh moves out of range. Ekbladh keeps the fight on the outside. Ekbladh displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Brennan. Ekbladh rushes Brennan and presses him up against the cage. Brennan throws a knee to the head but misses.

Ekbladh pulls Brennan in close to his closed guard and prevents Brennan from doing any damage or advancing position. Ekbladh is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Brennan is controlling him.

That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Ekbladh lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Brennan! Brennan is squirming around, avoiding Ekbladh's attempts to control the action. Brennan is wriggling around trying to escape.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Ekbladh trying to control but Brennan is having none of it. Ekbladh working for a guillotine from mount but Brennan is in no mood to give up. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
David Ekbladh dominated that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Both fighters circling a little - Ekbladh finishes the exchange with a kick to the body. The fight moves into the clinch position. Brennan has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Ekbladh uses from the top position. Ekbladh decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow. Ekbladh throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Ekbladh swats away the attempt to clinch by Brennan. Nate Brennan is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Ekbladh blocks a head kick by Brennan.
Brennan wants to clinch and Ekbladh counters with a left and a right that stings Brennan. Ekbladh swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Brennan tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land. Ekbladh trying to advance position but Brennan counters by regaining guard. Ekbladh stands up and waves to Brennan to follow him. Brennan misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Ekbladh scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Brennan doesn't seem bothered though. David Ekbladh seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Ekbladh tries to bum rush Brennan with a series of wild strikes but Brennan uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Brennan closes the distance looking to clinch and Ekbladh counters by moving into the clinch. Ekbladh stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.
Ekbladh tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Brennan just stands there and leans against the cage. Brennan throws a knee to the head but misses.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Brennan fails with the takedown letting Ekbladh counter with a right hand. Ekbladh feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Brennan keeping moving, preventing Ekbladh from controlling successfully. Ekbladh is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Brennan is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Brennan has escaped and now he's on top! Ekbladh wriggles free and stands up.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Brennan looks to clinch and Ekbladh counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Brennan on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. Ekbladh stalling. David Ekbladh has got the better of the ground game so far. Ekbladh trying to control from half guard but Brennan is working away. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Ekbladh decides to return to a standing position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
David Ekbladh showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Ekbladh walks away with a smile on his face. Brennan gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Ekbladh forces Brennan back against the cage and clinches. Brennan tries to land a knee to the head but Ekbladh blocks with his arms.
Ekbladh looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now. Ekbladh gets control of Brennan's arms and successfully pulls guard. Ekbladh will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back. Ekbladh wants to hit a switch here but Brennan passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Ekbladh there! Ekbladh squirming around on the bottom, looking to escape.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ekbladh wants to control but Brennan is having none of it. Brennan connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Ekbladh tries to reverse the position but Brennan maintains control. Ekbladh tries to lock up and control but Brennan gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Ekbladh is working to get back to half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Ekbladh is desperately trying to improve his position but Brennan has a good base and remains in mount. Brennan lands a heavy elbow. Ekbladh has worked his way to half guard, taking advantage of Brennan's lack of action.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Ekbladh looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Ekbladh working a defensive guard but Brennan passes into half guard.

David Ekbladh is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Ekbladh wants to stand but Brennan is controlling the position.
And that's the end of the fight! David Ekbladh comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Ekbladh has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
