Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Michael Scofield! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Colin Gray! The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Robert Douchet and Trevor Gratis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gray dodges the punch combination from Scofield.
Gray scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Gray gets to mount! Scofield was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly. Scofield is looking to improve his position but Gray isn't that keen on the idea. Gray sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. Scofield is working to get back to half guard.
Gray wants to control the pace but Scofield is squirming around nicely. Scofield bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!
That's one minute gone in the round. Scofield drops back, looking for a kneebar! Gray looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Gray looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Gray! Gray is looking to take a break and control but Scofield is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Gray is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position. Scofield is looking for a sweep. Scofield manages to work his way to half guard, despite Gray's best efforts. Gray trying to mount his opponent but Scofield defends it. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Gray is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Scofield sees it coming and defends easily.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Gray seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Scofield does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Scofield actively working from the bottom here. Scofield is breathing heavily. Scofield looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Gray wants to lay and pray for a moment but Scofield keeps working. The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Scofield has hold of a guillotine but he's not going to be able to crank on it really with only half guard, so it's no trouble for Gray. Oh but Scofield has got full guard now! Oh boy! This one could be over very soon! Gray goes limp - he's gone! Scofield jumps up and celebrates with the crowd - fantastic submission finish!
