PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Hector Guerrero (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jake Connor (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Guerrero kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Thunderstruck-AC/DC. Jake Connor has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Hector Guerrero's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Hector Guerrero!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jake Connor!
The judges for this bout are Chad Campbell, Jorge Garcia and Steve Montenegro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Connor uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Guerrero.
Connor connects with a single shot there.
Connor stuffs the takedown.
Connor scores with a punch to the head.
Connor throws a jab when Guerrero was well out of range.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Connor avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Guerrero uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Connor.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.

Connor misses with a looping left.
Connor jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.

Guerrero throws the left hand but Connor avoids the punch easily.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Connor blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Guerrero tries to circle away but Connor has him pinned against the ropes.
Guerrero has Connor pressed up against the ropes and is working for takedown. Connor manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Connor is looking to break free of the clinch but Guerrero has double underhooks.

Connor breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Connor tries to close the distance and clinch up but Guerrero swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Guerrero tries to score a power double leg takedown but Connor sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Guerrero somewhat.
Connor lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Guerrero backs up against the ropes.

Horrible takedown by Guerrero or perhaps it was just good defense by Connor which made him look bad.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Guerrero shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Connor as he jumps to the side.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Guerrero throws a shot from downtown. Connor moves away and avoids it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Guerrero moves out of range as Connor strikes.

Connor does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.

Connor throws a shot from downtown. Guerrero moves away and avoids it.
Guerrero gets cracked there but stands up to it.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Connor lands with a cross.
Guerrero circles away from the clinch attempt.
Connor throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Guerrero sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Connor has his takedown stuffed

and Guerrero counters with a takedown into side control.

Guerrero looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Connor dodges the ground and pound from Guerrero.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Connor wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!

Connor throws Guerrero to one side and escapes!
Connor might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
A nice leg kick lands there from Connor.
Connor throws a front kick aimed at Guerrero's knee but Guerrero avoids it well.
Connor throws a shot from downtown. Guerrero moves away and avoids it.

Jake Connor showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!


Connor moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
Connor tries to grapple but his opponent circles

and Guerrero counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Connor wants to stand but Guerrero is controlling the position.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Guerrero wants to pass the guard but Connor is keeping the position.
Connor wants to get back to his feet but Guerrero is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Connor controls Guerrero momentarily but Guerrero frees himself.
Connor wants to stand up but Guerrero is controlling him.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Connor moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.

Guerrero on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
Connor lands a glancing blow to the side of Guerrero's head.
Jake Connor is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Connor sizes up Guerrero with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Connor scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Connor scores with a sloppy right hand. Guerrero should have avoided that one.

I've got Connor winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
