PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Zebra Sinclair (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Selly Sel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Selly Sel will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Zebra Sinclair!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Selly Sel!
The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Steve Erwin and Damien Edna.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sinclair keeps the fight on the outside.

Sinclair drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Sinclair throws a strike but Sel rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Sel would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Sel trying to control but Sinclair is working from the bottom.
Sel might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Sinclair kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Sel has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Sinclair is proving hard to escape from.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Sel passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Sinclair!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Sel throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.

Sinclair is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.

Sel moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Sinclair has worked his arm free - good work by Sinclair!

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Sel postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.

A close round but Selly Sel will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Sinclair is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Sel stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Sel wants it to stay on the feet.
Sinclair avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Sel makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Sel.
Sel bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Sinclair's guard.

Sel gets to his feet - Sinclair follows without any prompting.
Sinclair takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Sel misses with a double jab.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Sinclair has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Sel's corner calls for a 1,2 combination and Sel duly obliges.

Sinclair shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Sel sprawls well. Sel wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Sinclair gets slowly back to his feet.
Sel tries to clinch up but Sinclair circles away and keeps his distance.

Sel drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Sinclair gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!
Poor strikes thrown by Sel there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!

Sel unloads with some shots from mount but Sinclair bucks and avoids them well.
Sinclair is trying to stand up.

Sel takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Sel misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
Sel has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Selly Sel showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Sinclair's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

With the fighters clinched against the cage, Sinclair creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.

Sinclair wants to get back to striking at distance but Sel won't allow it.
Sinclair really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Sel jumps guard but Sinclair stands there with Sel around his waist. Sel gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Sel throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Sinclair works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Sinclair will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Sel wants to stand but Sinclair has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Sel trying to control the position from guard on top but Sinclair is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Selly Sel is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Sel shoots in for a takedown but Sinclair shows good takedown defense.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Sel.
Sel tries to close the distance and clinch up but Sinclair swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Zebra Sinclair has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Sel misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Selly Sel comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Sel winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
