Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Riddler Junior! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Daniel Son! The judges for this bout are Illya Tyunina, Fedor Mirinova and Igor Prikhodko.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A jab-cross combination lands for Junior and sends Son crashing to the mat! Junior follows him down to the mat - Son regains half guard but he's not out of trouble yet!
Son is rocked!
It looks like Daniel Son has been cut. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Son is looking to control Junior's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Son avoid being mounted? Son is still in real trouble! Can Junior finish him? Junior seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
Son seems to have recovered his senses. Son is refusing to be controlled, as Junior sits in half guard. Son wants to improve his position but Junior is controlling well.
Junior controlling the action here. Junior wants to stand up but Son is controlling the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Son wants to control but Junior is keeping busy.
Son wants to get back to full guard. Junior could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Junior throws a leg kick which misses Son's front leg but catches the back leg as Son tries to avoid it. Junior lands a head shot. Junior gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. A short right from Junior.
That has opened up Daniel Son's cut even more. Junior jumps guard and drags Son to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back. Junior looking for a sweep. Not yet Junior, not yet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Son drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Junior dives on top into guard. Son looks gassed! Son wants to sweep but no luck. Junior wanted to stand there but Son had control of the position. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Son can do anything to dispel that myth. Son keeping moving, preventing Junior from controlling successfully. A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Son holds on and takes a little breather.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Junior throws a big right hand that misses. Junior keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Son's head. Junior gets to his feet - Son follows without any prompting. Nice takedown defense from Junior. No joy for Son on that attempt. Riddler Junior is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Junior throws a right and a left that both miss. No luck for Son with that takedown attempt. Junior gets a clinch. Junior's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Son on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere. Junior misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Junior is looking to slow Son down with leg kicks. Junior tries to clinch there but Son circles away.
The fight moves into the clinch position. Junior breaks the clinch.
Junior takes the fight into the clinch. Junior escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Junior lands with a thumping leg kick.
Junior lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Junior. This has been an exciting period of action! Jab by Junior.
The cut above Daniel Son's eye is starting to cause him problems now. Junior fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Son on the side of the head. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Junior is looking to clinch but Son is avoiding it.
Junior cracks Son with a right hand to the side of the head. Junior drops Son with a nice combination! Junior dives into Son's guard, looking to finish!
Junior trying to control the position from guard on top but Son is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Riddler Junior dominated that round. The cut man is working on Daniel Son's cut. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!
Junior closes the distance and lands a one-two. Junior lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Son at a distance.
Junior is looking to clinch. Son tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him. Son changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Junior tries to avoid it but Son manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Junior to the ground. Junior escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Son dodges the punch combination from Junior.
Junior Rushes Son and starts throwing punches like they are going out of style! Son is up against the cage and has nowhere to go. Junior Piles on the pressure and Son crumples to the floor! This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:31 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Riddler Junior!
